Warnbro is an Electoral districts of Western Australia, electoral district of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the outer south-western suburbs of Perth. Politically, Warnbro is a safe Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor seat. At its creation, the district was calculated to have a Labor Party majority of 61.2% to 38.8% versus the Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), Liberal Party. History Warnbro was first created for the 2008 Western Australian state election, 2008 state election. It was essentially a truncation of the abolished district of Electoral district of Peel, Peel. Paul Papalia
Paul Papalia CSC (born 12 July 1962) is an Australian politician. He has been a Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since February 2007. Originally the member for Peel. He is now the member for Warnbro. A decorated former navy diver who served two tours in Iraq, Papalia entered parliament after winning a by-election sparked by the resignation of scandal-tarred former minister Norm Marlborough. Early life and naval career Papalia was born in Bunbury, Western Australia and grew up in the nearby small town of Burekup. He served in the Royal Australian Navy for 26 years before entering politics, working as a navy diver and rising to the rank of lieutenant commander. He specialised in explosives retrieval and escape and rescue. Papalia completed Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) selection and reinforcement training in 1988. The district was based in the south-western suburbs of Perth. Peel was at all times a safe Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Labor seat. History Peel was first created for the 1989 Western Australian state election, 1989 state election. It was won by Labor candidate Norm Marlborough, who retained the seat at all subsequent elections. 2007 by-election Marlborough resigned in late 2006 amidst a corruption scandal. Baldivis is a semi-rural residential suburb south of Perth, and southeast of the regional centre of Rockingham. It is located within the City of Rockingham local government area. Port Kennedy is built on Becher Point and because of its geomorphological history it is home to an unusual wetland formation, called the Becher Wetland Suite. Kwinana is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the south-western suburbs of Perth. History Kwinana was first created for the 2008 state election. It was a new urban seat created as a result of the one vote one value reforms. For the most part it combined the southern portion of the district of Cockburn with the northern part of the district of Peel; it also took in territory previously covered by the districts of Rockingham and Serpentine-Jarrahdale. The 2008 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 6 September 2008 to elect 59 members to the Legislative Assembly and 36 members to the Legislative Council. The incumbent centre-left Labor Party government, in power since the 2001 election and led since 25 January 2006 by Premier Alan Carpenter, was defeated by the centre-right Liberal Party opposition, led by Opposition Leader Colin Barnett since 6 August 2008.
