Munmorah was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian State of New South Wales, which partly replaced Wyong in 1973. It was named after Lake Munmorah or the locality of the same name. In 1981, it was replaced by Swansea and Tuggerah. Its only member was Harry Jensen Henry Frederick Jensen AO, (12 July 1913 – 27 August 1998) was an Australian ALP politician, who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1965 until 1981. New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. Wyong is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. The district is a 640.55 km² urban and semi-rural electorate on the Central Coast. It covers part of Central Coast Council, including the towns of Wyong and Toukley. History Wyong was originally established in 1962. In 1973, it was replaced by Munmorah and a redistricted Gosford. In 1988, a recreated Wyong and The Entrance replaced Tuggerah. In 2011 local businessman Darren Webber won the seat, becoming the first Liberal MP for Wyong, gaining a 9.5% swing. Lake Munmorah or Munmorah Lake, a lagoon that is part of the Tuggerah Lakes, is located within the local government area in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The lake is located near the settlement of Lake Munmorah and is situated about north of Sydney. Lake Munmorah is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the local government area. Location and features Adjacent to Lake Munmorah is the Munmorah State Conservation Area. The park offers coastal bushwalking, rock fishing and surf breaks adjacent to Frazer Park. Lake Munmorah hosts four schools along the same road (Carters road). They are Saint Brendan's Primary school (a Catholic primary school), Saint Brigid's College (a Catholic secondary school), Lake Munmorah Public School (a public primary school), and Lake Munmorah High School (a public secondary school). The actual Lake is a very shallow lake that peaks at about 3 to 4m deep, though is rather wide, with three main access areas: Elizabeth Bay, Tom Burke Reserve, and Colongra Bay Reserve. Harry Jensen
Henry Frederick Jensen AO, (12 July 1913 – 27 August 1998) was an Australian ALP politician, who served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1965 until 1981. He was also Lord Mayor of Sydney from 1957 until 1965. Born in Newtown, New South Wales, Jensen was educated at Gardiners Road Public School, Marist Brothers High School in Darlinghurst, and St. Joseph's College, Hunters Hill. He joined the Labor Party in 1929. He worked as an electrician and became an organiser within the Australian Electrical Trades Union and a delegate to the Australian Trades and Labor Council. He subsequently established his own electrical contracting business and later worked in footwear distribution. He served as an alderman on Randwick Municipal Council from 1950 until 1956, including Mayor of Randwick from 1954. Elections for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly were held in the state of New South Wales, Australia, on Saturday 17 November 1973. The result was a win for the Liberal- Country Party coalition under Sir Robert Askin, which had been in office since 1965. As of 2019, this was the last time the Coalition won a fourth-term in New South Wales.
