The electoral district of Kororoit is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly covering Albanvale, Victoria, Albanvale, Caroline Springs, Victoria, Caroline Springs as well as some parts of Deer Park, Victoria, Deer Park and St Albans, Victoria, St Albans in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The seat was created prior to the 2002 Victorian state election, 2002 election and with the same redistribution turning Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party powerbroker and Minister (government), cabinet minister Andre Haermeyer's seat of Electoral district of Yan Yean, Yan Yean into a marginal Liberal Party of Australia (Victorian Division), Liberal seat, Haermeyer decided to contest Kororoit. Luba Grigorovitch (born 5 June 1985) is an Australian trade unionist and politician. She represents the district of Kororoit in the Victorian Legislative Assembly. She is a member of the Labor Party and was elected in the 2022 state election, after replacing retiring MLA Marlene Kairouz Marlene Kairouz (born 2 March 1975) is an Australian politician. Marlene Kairouz (born 2 March 1975) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2008. She was the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation between 2016 and 2020. Political career Kairouz was first elected to the Legislative Assembly at the 2008 Kororoit by-election, triggered by the resignation of former minister Andre Haermeyer. Prior to entering state politics she had been elected to the City of Darebin in 1998, serving as mayor from 2001 to 2002 and again from 2006 to 2007. Kairouz was an official with the Victorian branch of the Shop Assistants' Union from 2004, and was promoted to become an organiser in 2005 before her election to Parliament. 2022 Victorian State Election
The 2022 Victorian state election was held on Saturday, 26 November 2022 to elect the 60th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Legislative Assembly (lower house) and all 40 seats in the Legislative Council (upper house) were up for election at the time the writs were issued, however the election in the district of Narracan was deferred due to the death of a candidate. The Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), commonly known as Victorian Labor, is the semi-autonomous Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP).
