Electoral District Of Carcoar
Carcoar was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, originally created in 1859 to the southwest of Bathurst and named after Carcoar. It replaced part of Western Boroughs and part of Bathurst (County). From 1880 to 1894, it elected two members. The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is elected from single-member electorates called districts, returning 93 members since the 1999 election. Prior to 1927 some districts returned multiple members, including 1920-1927 when all districts returned 3,4 or 5 members. Solomon Meyer
Solomon Meyer (1823 – 25 February 1902) was an English-born Australian politician. He was born in London, the son of silk manufacturer Jacob Meyer. In 1841 he migrated to Tasmania, where he managed a business, before moving to Sydney around 1845. On 2 July 1844 he married Theophilia Faulder; they had one son. In 1851 he opened the Ophir goldfields' first general store, and he settled at Carcoar. He was an alderman at Goulburn and ran a grocery and ironmongery business. In 1874 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Carcoar Carcoar is a town in the Central West (New South Wales), Central West region of New South Wales, Australia, in Blayney Shire.
