Brittany Lauga
Brittany Louise Lauga (née McKee; born 19 June 1986) is an Australian politician and town planner. She has been the Labor member for Keppel in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 2015. Early life, education and non-political career Lauga grew up in Central Queensland, Australia, where her current residence is at the suburb of Parkhurst, in the Electoral District of Keppel. For high school Lauga went to Rockhampton Grammar School where she graduated in 2003. She went on to study a dual Bachelor of Laws/ Bachelor of Justice at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane partially for two years, then moving onto a Bachelor of Urban Development and graduating with honours. James Larcombe
James Larcombe (1884–1957) was a Labor politician from Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life James Larcombe was born in Rockhampton, Queensland on 25 April 1884. His father, also named James Larcombe, was a butcher, and his mother was Mary (née Lee). He was educated at the Jenkins private school in Rockhampton. As a young man, he worked as a butcher with his father and was active in the local labor movement. Politics At the 1912 election, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland to represent the newly created electoral district of Keppel. While the MLA for Keppel, he was a minister without portfolio from 9 September 1919 to 22 October 1919. Then he was appointed as Secretary for Public Works from 22 October 1919 to 7 April 1920. Vince Lester
Vincent Patrick Lester (born 28 July 1939) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1974 to 2004, representing in succession the electorates of Belyando, Peak Downs and then Keppel. He served as a minister in several National Party governments throughout his career, having first been promoted in 1983 as part of Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen's cabinet. Following his retirement from parliament Lester was employed as a political advisor on the staff of Senator Ron Boswell, a senator for Queensland. Lester received a Centenary Medal on 1 January 2001 for "service to Australian society through parliament". Merv Thackeray
Mervyn Herbert (Merv) Thackeray (20 October 1925 – 7 June 2014) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1957 until 1972, representing Keppel (1957–1960) and Rockhampton North (1960–1972). He was disendorsed in January 1972 and ran unsuccessfully as an independent at the 1972 state election. Thackeray was born in Mackay and educated at Mackay Primary School. He had a career as a grazier and on the railways before entering politics, working variously as engine driver, fireman, engine cleaner and union delegate. The Queensland Labor Party (QLP) was a political party of Queensland, Australia formed in 1957 by a breakaway group of the then ruling Labor Party Government after the expulsion of Premier Vince Gair. In 1962 the party became the Queensland section of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP). The party continued to hold seats in the Queensland state parliament until 1972, then suffered a collapse in its vote and wound itself up in 1978. Vivian Joseph Northcote Cooper (19 June 1909 – 10 September 2000) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Cooper was born at Parkhurst, a suburb in Rockhampton, Queensland, the son of Joseph Cooper and his wife Norah (née Dooley). He was educated at Parkhurst State School, Nobbs Street Convent, and the Christian Brothers College in Rockhampton. Walter Charles Ingram (23 January 1891 – 24 July 1952) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Ingram was born at Blackall, Queensland, the son of George William Ingram and Catherine Kelly Ingram. He was educated at Glenmore State School and by 1908 was employed as a road worker and shearer in Yeppoon. David Daniel (politician)
David John Marlais Daniel (12 January 1903 – 5 February 1962) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early and personal life Daniel was born at Rockhampton, Queensland, the son of Owen Daniel and his wife Sarah Ann (née Jenkins). He was educated at Rockhampton State School and then attended the Rockhampton Grammar School before owning a tobacco shop in that city. On 19 January 1927, he married Julia Augusta Nelson and together had two sons. He died at his home in Rockhampton in February 1962. Public career Daniel, a Country Party representative, won the 1936 by-election for the seat of Keppel in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, taking it over from his father, Owen Daniel, who had died in February of that year.
