Eldorado Park is a suburb of Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region G of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. It lies on the southern boundary of Soweto and prior to 1994, was a Coloured township during Apartheid. South African Standard Time
South African Standard Time (SAST) is the time zone used by all of South Africa as well as Eswatini and Lesotho. The zone is two hours ahead of UTC ( UTC+02:00) and is the same as Central Africa Time. Daylight saving time is not observed in either time zone. Solar noon in this time zone occurs at 30° E in SAST, effectively making Pietermaritzburg at the correct solar noon point, with Johannesburg and Pretoria slightly west at 28° E and Durban slightly east at 31° E. Thus, most of South Africa's population experience true solar noon at approximately 12:00 daily. The western Northern Cape and Western Cape differ, however. Jamali (band)
Jamali is a South African female musical group. The group's name is from the first two letters of each of the members' names. The members are Jacqui Carpede, Mariechan Luiters and Liesl Penniken. The band was formed on the TV show ''Coca-Cola Popstars''. Jamali was the runner-up to the boy band Ghetto Lingo. Miss South Africa 2015
The Miss South Africa 2015 pageant took place on March 29, 2015 at the Sun City Superbowl. The pageant was broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic. The final was contested by 12 girls who were selected after weeks of challenges at Sun City International. The pageant was hosted by television and radio personality Thomas Mlambo . Liesl Laurie from Johannesburg was crowned Miss South Africa 2015 by the outgoing title holder Zipozakhe Zokufa. Liesl Laurie (born 24 December 1990 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2015. She has represented her country at the Miss World 2015, in Sanya, China on 19 December 2015. Personal life Laurie grew up in Eldorado Park, a mainly Coloured suburb in Johannesburg. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is the national police force of the Republic of South Africa. Shooting Of Nathaniel Julies
Nathaniel “Lockie” Julies, a 16 year-old boy with down syndrome, was fatally shot allegedly by South African Police Service (SAPS) officers Sergeant Simon ‘Scorpion’ Ndyalvane and Constable Caylene Whiteboy on the 26 August 2020. A third suspect, Detective Voster Netshiongolo, appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. Julies was shot meters away from his home in the Eldorado Park area of Johannesburg, Gauteng. Incident It was initially reported by Gauteng premier David Makhura that Julies was killed in crossfire between SAPS personnel and gang members. Group Areas Act
Group Areas Act was the title of three acts of the Parliament of South Africa enacted under the apartheid government of South Africa. The acts assigned racial groups to different residential and business sections in urban areas in a system of urban apartheid. An effect of the law was to exclude people of color from living in the most developed areas, which were restricted to Whites (Sea Point, Claremont). It required many people of color to commute large distances from their homes to be able to work. The law led to people of color being forcibly removed for living in the "wrong" areas. The majority that was people of color, were given much smaller areas (e.g., Tongaat, Grassy Park) to live in than the white minority who owned most of the country.
