Eldar Mahmudov
Eldar Mahmudov Ahmad oglu ( az, Eldar Mahmudov Əhməd oğlu) is an Azerbaijani politician formerly serving as the Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan Republic. Early life Mahmudov was born in Baku in 1956 to the family of a scientist. His father's family is originally from the village of Shahtakhti in the Sharur region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He graduated from the Bunyadzadeh Institute of Economy in 1978 (B.A. in Finance and Credit) and Baku State University in 1993 (B.A. in Law). He holds the military rank of Lieutenant General as of March 16, 2005 and formerly served in the USSR Armed Forces. Career In 1980-2004 Mahmudov served in internal affairs agencies, firstly of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic (to 1991) and thereafter the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic. 2007 Baku Terrorist Plot
The 2007 Baku terrorist plot was a foiled terrorist plot aimed at several targets in Baku, Azerbaijan. The resulting security measures prompted the closure of the American and British embassies. Some institutions such as Norwegian Statoil and American McDermott oil companies limited their activity. On October 29, 2007 Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies reported that they had detained a group of Salafis armed with grenade launchers who were preparing an attack near the United States and British embassies. According to the National Security Ministry spokesman it was discovered that the group had four Kalashnikov assault rifles, one Kalashnikov grenade launcher, 20 grenades, ammunition and automatic weapon parts. Qusar District
Qusar District (; az, Qusar rayonu; lez, КцIар район, script=Latn) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north-east of the country and belongs to the Guba-Khachmaz Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Quba, Qabala, Khachmaz, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan.
