Azerbaijani Flag Order ( az, Azərbaycan Bayrağı Ordeni) is an award presented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. History and status Azerbaijani Flag order was among several medals and orders, requested to be reviewed and created by the President Abulfaz Elchibey on November 10, 1992 by a Presidential Decree No. 370. The order was created by the Decree No. 756 of the President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev and ratified by National Assembly of Azerbaijan on December 6, 1993. The Baku Air Defence Army (russian: Бакинская армия ПВО) was a formation of the Soviet Air Defence Forces that existed in the Azerbaijan SSR from 1942-1945. History The Baku Air Defence Army was formed on the Eastern Front of World War II following the decree of the State Defence Committee of April 5, 1942. Previously known as the Baku Air Defence Corps, its main objective became sheltering the Baku oil fields from German raids. The Wehrmacht had been planning the capture of the oil field under the codename Operation Edelweiss. Vice Admiral Shahin Eshref oghlu Sultanov () was the Commander of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces from 1999 to 2014. Early life and career He was born on 8 August 1961 in the Goychay District of the Azerbaijan SSR.
