Acacio Mañé Ela
Acacio Mane Elah (c.1904 - 1959), is considered one of the first Equatorial Guinean nationalist and independence leaders. Biography Acacio Mañé Ela was born into the Fang society of the mainland Afro-Spanish colony, in the Esambira clan, from the region located at the south of Douala ( Cameroon) In 1919 he was admitted in the College of the Catholic Mission of Bata. He was baptized in 1922 and named after one of the leaders of the Catholic Mission, Father Acacio Ferraz. The Esambira and other clan of the region, the Esamengón, became linked in the 1940s, when a relative of Acacio Mane, Amadeo Mangue, married a member of the clan Esamengó, Isabel Mbang. Florencio Mayé Elá
Florencio Mayé Elá Mangue (born 1944) is an Equatorial Guinean military leader, politician, and diplomat. Biography In the 1960s, Mayé had military training at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza, Spain, along with Teodoro Obiang, Eulogio Oyó, and other future leaders. Under the dictatorship of Francisco Macías, Mayé was head of the National Navy. He participated in the coup of 3 August 1979, and in the subsequent government of the Supreme Military Council as Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participating in the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Spain and Equatorial Guinea of 1980. He was decorated in Spain with the Order of Isabella the Catholic, along with Salvador Elá Nseng and Juan Manuel Tray. George Ela
George Ela (October 11, 1868 – February 13, 1957) was an American lawyer, farmer, and politician. Born in the town of Rochester, Wisconsin, Ela went to the Rochester Academy and then graduated from University of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin Law School. He was a dairy farmer and livestock dealer. Ela served on the elementary school board as a clerk and on the Rochester Town Board. He also served on the Racine County Board of Supervisors and was chairman of the county board. Jacob Hart Ela (July 18, 1820 – August 21, 1884) was an American politician and a U.S. Representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Rochester, New Hampshire, Ela attended the village school in Rochester. At fourteen years of age he was apprenticed in a woolen manufactory and subsequently learned the printer's trade. Career Ela served as member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1857 and 1858 and as United States marshal from July 1861 to October 1866. Elected as a Republican to the Fortieth and Forty-first Congresses, Ela served as United States Representative for the 1st congressional district or the state of New Hampshire (March 4, 1867 – March 3, 1871). Pedro Jacinto Elá Eyene (born 2 May 1982), known as Elá, is an Equatoguinean retired footballer who played as a right winger. Club career Born in Añisoc, Elá moved to Barcelona at the age of ten with his parents. He played most of his youth football with RCD Espanyol (five years), being selected to Spain's youth teams whilst with the club and also helping the reserves promote to Segunda División B in 2000; the following year, he won the Copa del Rey Juvenil with the juniors. Jean-Marc Ela (27 September 1936 – 26 December 2008) was a Cameroon, Cameroonian sociologist and theologian. Working variously as a diocesan priest and a professor, Ela was the author of many books on theology, philosophy, and social sciences in Africa. His most famous work, ''African Cry'' has been called the "soundest illustration" of the spirit of liberation theology in sub-Saharan Africa. His works are widely cited as exemplary of sub-Saharan African Christian theology for their focus on Inculturation, contextualisation and their emphasis on community-centered approaches to theology. Regina Mañe Ela
Regina Mañe Ela (8 December 1954 – 24 February 2015) was an Equatorial Guinean politician and opposition campaigner. Life Ela was born in Bata on 8 December 1954. Ela was a teacher first at a primary school, and from 1970 at the National Institute of Secondary Education. She was sacked from the latter position in 1994 for her membership of the opposition Progress Party of Equatorial Guinea. Ela was secretary of social action for the Rio Miuni Geographic Council and was elected mayor of Bata for the Progress Party on 17 September 1995. The governing Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea disputed the results and claimed victory. President Teodoro Obiang gave the mayoralty to one of his supporters. Ruslan Elá Eyene (born 7 November 1983), known as Elá, is an Equatoguinean retired footballer who played as a left back or a central defender. Club career Elá was born in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain.
