El Pecado De Oyuki (comic)
(English: ''Oyuki's Sin'' alt. ''The Sin of Oyuki'', Japanese: ) was a Mexican comic book series that appeared in the weekly magazine '' Tears, Laughter and Love'', published by EDAR between 1975 and 1977. Was created and written by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. The comic tells the story of Oyuki, a beautiful Japanese woman in love with a young British painter. The plot bears some resemblance to the story ''Madama Butterfly'' by John Luther Long (1898), adapted as an opera by Giacomo Puccini in 1904. The story was adapted in a 1988 telenovela of the same name. Story Oyuki is a young, beautiful Japanese peasant who lives with her elderly parents in the Japanese province. She has an older brother named Yutaka, who is evil and vicious. Both Oyuki and her parents live in fear of Yutaka, who constantly mistreats them. Grupo Editorial Vid (also known as ''Vid'' or ''Mundo Vid'') was a Mexican comic, manga and books publisher. It was funded in the early 1940s as ''Editorial Argumentos'' (EDAR). Many of their books are sold from around 30 pesos for comics up to 60 Pesos for manga (approximately US$5–6). Both comics and manga are released monthly. Comics In the mid 1990s, Vid started publishing Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image Comics, among others, as well as some independent titles. In 2005, when Televisa acquired the rights to publish Marvel titles they stopped selling it. Memín Pinguín
Memín Pinguín was a Mexican comic book character. He was created in 1943 by writer Yolanda Vargas Dulché. Alberto Cabrera (comics), Alberto Cabrera took over drawing from 1953 until 1962, followed by Sixto Valencia Burgos. The original series had 372 chapters printed in Sepia (color), sepia, and it has been republished in 1952 and 1961. In 1988 it was re-edited colorized, and in 2004 was re-edited again. Valencia worked on the reissues over the years, updating the drawings (clothes, settings and backgrounds) for the re-edits. It contains comedy and soap opera elements. However, since 2008 Valencia no longer works on the comic, having departed publishing house Editorial Vid. In addition to Mexico, ''Memín'' remains a popular magazine in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, and other countries. Rarotonga (comics)
''Rarotonga'' was a Mexican comic book series in the ''Lágrimas, Risas y Amor'' comics published by Grupo Editorial Vid, EDAR which appeared between 1951 and 1998. The main character of the comic series was Rarotonga, a jungle queen of an Rarotonga, island of the same name who occupied her days dancing and romancing travelers. Within the publication were tears, laughter and love, and dedicated to mostly romantic themed storylines. In 1978 a Mexican film of the same name directed by Raúl Ramírez was made using material from the comic. In 1992, the Mexican band Café Tacuba wrote a song called "Rarotonga" about the comic.
