El Zarape Records
Zarape Records or El Zarape Records was a tejano music record label based in Dallas, Texas. History Records Records was founded in 1963. In 1964 and 1965, it released albums (''Por un amor'', ''Amor bonito'' respectively) by Little Joe and the Latinaires which was the beginning of that artist's success. Johnny Gonzales was an executive at the label. Zarape was also the label responsible for ''El barco chiquito'', which is Agustín Ramírez's most popular album. Zarape was the first label to market Tex-Mex on a national level. In the mid-1970s Zarape became the first label for "El Si Senor" Ruben Naranjo y Los Gamblers. Little Joe (singer)
José María De León Hernández (born October 17, 1940), known professionally as Little Joe is an American tejano performer who grew up in Temple, Texas, and lives in Temple, Texas. Career Little Joe is of Mexican descent. Hernández told the '' Stockton Record'' in 2015 that he was born "in a three-wall, dirt-floor garage on a cold stormy night," the seventh of 13 children. His father, Salvador, was known as "La Cotorra" (the parakeet) and was a troubadour. His mother, Amelia DeLeon, was a trained pianist. "My dad and aunts all played instruments and sang," he told the ''Riverside Press-Enterprise'' (Nov. 18, 2015). We'd go to parties that would last until three in the morning. Hernández got his start at 13 when his cousin, David Coronado, recruited him to play guitar for his Latinaires. The Latinaires eventually became known as Little Joe and the Latinaires. Johnny Canales
Juan José "Johnny" Canales (born 1947 in General Treviño, Nuevo León, Mexico) is a Mexican retired Tejano singer and former host of the television show "''The Johnny Canales Show''". Canales is credited with one of the first live performances of vocalist Selena by her 13th birthday. He took Selena y Los Dinos for their first concerts in Mexico. As a radio DJ in 1974, Canales gave Ruben Naranjo considerable airplay. The original show Johnny Canales was the executive producer for ''The Johnny Canales Show'' which debuted in 1983. His program showcased emerging bands from Mexico and the United States. Some of his guests included La Sombra de Chicago, Selena, Nancy, La Mafia, Mazz, Intocable, Grupo Pegasso De Emilio Reyna, Fama (band), Fama, Jaime y Los Chamacos, Jennifer Peña, Los Tigres del Norte and Los Relámpagos del Norte and many more. La Onda
''La Onda'' (The Wave) was a multidisciplinary artistic movement created in Mexico by artists and intellectuals as part of the worldwide waves of the counterculture of the 1960s and the avant-garde.
