The El Salvador national tennis team represents El Salvador in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Federación Salvadorena de Ténis. El Salvador currently competes in the Americas Zone of Group II. They have reached Group II on four occasions, and won their first ever Group II match in April 2007 to avoid relegation. Rafael Arévalo
Rafael Arévalo González (; born July 4, 1986) is a retired professional tennis player from El Salvador. The majority of Arévalo's professional career has been restricted to playing on the Futures (ITF) circuit, with a further 22 appearances for the El Salvador Davis Cup team; he also encountered modest success in the juniors, reaching a peak of No. 10 in 2004. However, in 2008, aided by the Salvadoran Tennis Federation ('' Federación Salvadoreña de Tenis''), he was awarded an invitation to the 2008 Beijing Olympics tennis tournament. The Tripartite Commission, which issued the invitation, is composed of representatives from International Olympic Committee (IOC), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and it is standard practice to award such invitations (of which there were two for the men's singles tennis event) to countries with small Olympic teams. Marcelo Arévalo
Marcelo Arévalo González (; born October 17, 1990) is a Salvadoran professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 5 in doubles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he first achieved on 14 November 2022. Together with his career-high singles ranking of world No. 139, attained in April 2018, Arévalo is the highest-ranked player, male or female, across both disciplines in Salvadoran tennis history. He has won six career ATP Tour doubles titles, including a Grand Slam title at the 2022 French Open with partner Jean-Julien Rojer. With the win, he became the first player from Central America to claim a men's doubles major title. El Salvador (; , meaning " The Saviour"), officially the Republic of El Salvador ( es, República de El Salvador), is a country in Central America. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 135 nations entered teams into the competition. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). 1991 Davis Cup
The 1991 Davis Cup (also known as the 1991 Davis Cup by NEC for sponsorship purposes) was the 80th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 88 teams would enter the competition, 16 in the World Group, 20 in the Americas Zone, 20 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 32 in the Europe/Africa Zone. Diego Durán (c. 1537 – 1588) was a Dominican friar best known for his authorship of one of the earliest Western books on the history and culture of the Aztecs, ''The History of the Indies of New Spain'', a book that was much criticised in his lifetime for helping the "heathen" maintain their culture. Also known as the Durán Codex, ''The History of the Indies of New Spain'' was completed in about 1581. Durán also wrote ''Book of the Gods and Rites'' (1574–1576), and ''Ancient Calendar'' (c. 1579). He was fluent in Nahuatl, the Aztec language, and was therefore able to consult natives and Aztec codices as well as work done by earlier friars.
