Ekkofestival
The Ekkofestival, Ekko or Ekko - Bergen Electronic Music and Art Festival, is a music festival which takes place in Bergen, Norway in the fall every year. Biography Ekko mainly focus on presenting electronic music and contemporary art, where the musical expressions encompasses a multitude of genres, with electronic music as the common denominator. The festival started in 2003, and it has grown substantially since the beginning. During the years Ekko has presented over 400 artists and/or bands, and Ekko has been early in fronting many new artists. Artists like Skatebård, Jeans Team, Me At Sea, Annie, Booka Shade and Kleerup have all played at the festival, as well as established musicians like ESG, Puma, Lasse Marhaug, Biosphere, Stian Westerhus, Øystein Moen, Susanne Sundfør, and A Certain Ratio. Øystein Moen
Øystein Moen (born 16 August 1980) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer known for his participation in the bands Jaga Jazzist and Puma. Career Moen was born in Steinkjer, and studied music on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium, where he and some fellow students started the band Puma, a cousin band musically to Supersilent. Puma is Øystein Moen (synthesizers and electronics), Stian Westerhus (guitar and electronics) and Gard Nilssen (drums). Their new album, ''Half Nelson Courtship'' (2010), shows a band with a stronger identity, clearer focus, more mature and fully developed musical ideas and directions. Puma is first and foremost a contemporary and progressive unit making their own path on the ever growing Norwegian experimental scene mixing improvisation, jazz, electronics and free rock. Me At Sea
Me At Sea (initiated 2003 in Bergen, Norway) is a solo electronica project of Isak Strand. Biography While wandering around the streets of Bergen sampling city sounds, hammering on stones and grit, Strand sampled sounds for the first song of the project, «No need for hibernation». Stian Westerhus
Stian Westerhus (born 2 April 1979) is a Norwegian guitarist known for his experimental style, explored with keyboardist Øystein Moen in the bands Jaga Jazzist and Puma and with Sidsel Endresen, Nils Petter Molvær, Arve Henriksen, Jan Bang, and Ingar Zach. Career Westerhus holds a bachelor in jazz from Middlesex University under Stuart Hall, and a master from the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium, (NTNU, 2005). He was first recognised by a broader audience within the experimental jazz band Puma, with whom he released four albums. The soloalbum ''Pitch Black Star Spangled'' (2010) on Rune Grammofon got some attention in reviews. Lo-Fi-Fnk is a Swedish electropop-band formed in 2001 consisting of Leonard Drougge and August Hellsing. They have released two EPs, ''We Is'' in 2002 and ''...And the JFG?'' in 2005. Moderat is a German electronic music supergroup originating in Berlin between Sascha Ring, also known as Apparat, and Modeselektor members Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. The band have released four studio albums to date, their most recent being ''More D4ta'', released on May 13, 2022. Kim Hiorthøy
Kim Hiorthøy (born March 17, 1973) is a Norwegian electronic musician, graphic designer, illustrator, filmmaker and writer. Biography Hiorthøy was born and raised in Trondheim, Norway, and studied at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (1991–96) as well as the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen (1999–2000). During his tenure at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, Hiorthøy spent a year abroad in 1994 to attend the School of Visual Arts in New York. There he worked extensively with Cinematographer Mott Hupfel. Currently, he lives and works in Berlin, Germany. A fictionalized version of Hiorthøy is a character in Erlend Loe's novel '' L''. Casiokids
Casiokids are a Norwegian synthpop ensemble from Bergen, and Stavanger formed in 2005. The band consists of Ketil Kinden Endresen, Fredrik Øgreid Vogsborg, Omar Johnsen and Kjetil Bjøreid Aabø. Axel Willner is a Swedish electronic music producer and DJ from Stockholm and currently based in Berlin, best known for his releases as The Field, blending micro-samples of pop songs into atmospheric minimal techno.
