Janet Eiluned Lewis (1 November 1900 – 15 April 1979) was a Welsh novelist, poet, and journalist. Early life and education Janet Eiluned Lewis was born in Penstrowed near Newtown, Montgomeryshire, the daughter of Eveline Griffiths and Hugh Lewis. Penstrowed
Penstrowed is a historic Montgomeryshire parish to the west of Newtown, now in Powys, Wales . Description Penstrowed is situated in the river Severn valley. The founder of the church, Saint Gwrhai was a 5th-century saint who is supposed to have been buried in the churchyard. The Penstrowed Quarry was an important source for local stone and was used for building the Caersws workhouse. It was later acquired by Montgomeryshire County Council and a railway siding connecting the quarry to Cambrian main line laid in 1902 and closed in May 1937. Penstrowed now claims to be 'The smallest hamlet in Wales'. It is governed by the Mochdre with Penstrowed Community Council. Agnes Miller Parker
Agnes Miller Parker (1895–1980) was an engraver, illustrator and painter in oil and tempera. Born in Ayrshire, she spent most of her career in London and southern Britain. She is especially known as a twentieth century wood-engraver thanks to her collaboration with H. E. Bates, which resulted in two outstanding wood engraved books: ''Through the Woods (1936)'' and ''Down the River (1937)'', published by Victor Gollancz Ltd, Victor Gollancz. Biography Agnes Miller Parker (name on birth certificate Agnes Millar Parker) was born on 3 April 1895 at Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1911 to 1917, and joined the staff of the School for a short period. St David's Hall (Welsh: ''Neuadd Dewi Sant'') is a performing arts and conference venue in the heart of Cardiff, Wales. St David's Hall is the National Concert Hall and Conference Centre of Wales. It hosts the annual Welsh Proms and the biennial BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. As well as classical music it also plays host to jazz, soul, pop, rock, dance, children's, rhythm and blues, musicals and other forms of world music, as well as light entertainment artists. Glen Cavaliero
Glen Tilburn Cavaliero (7 June 1927 – 28 October 2019) was an English poet and critic. Life Glen Cavaliero was born of mixed Italian and north country English descent, and was educated at Tonbridge School in Kent. He studied Modern History at Magdalen College, Oxford, and was a staff member at Lincoln Theological College from 1956 to 1961 before matriculating as a mature student to read English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge in 1965. He was awarded a Ph.D. from Cambridge in 1972. Cavaliero was subsequently a member of the Faculty of English at Cambridge University, a Fellow Commoner of St Catharine's College, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and the President of the Powys Society.
