Alex Afenyo Markin is the member of parliament of Effutu constituency, he is on the ticket of NPP. Effutu Municipal District
Effutu Municipal District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu/Effutu/Senya District in 1988, until the southwest part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 29 February 2008 to create Awutu Senya District; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Effutu Municipal District on that same year. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin (born 27 May 1978) is the Member of the Parliament of Ghana for the Effutu constituency, Central Region. He also serves as a member of the committee on Defense and Interior Committee in Ghana Parliament. He is currently the Deputy Majority Leader in the Parliament of Ghana. Mike Hammah
Mike Allen Hammah (born 28 August 1955) is a politician and a former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources of Ghana. He had been the Minister for Transport until January 4, 2011, when he was moved after a cabinet reshuffle by President Mills. He was also the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana. Early life and education Hammah was born on 28 August 1955. He hails from Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana. He attended Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi for his Ordinary and Advanced level education between 1969 and 1976. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. This is a list of the 275 constituencies represented in the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, as at the December 2016 general election. It had been increased from 260 at the previous election in December 2012 parliamentary election. Each constituency is represented by a single member of parliament (MP). There were 230 parliamentary constituencies previously. History At the time Ghana became an independent country, there were 104 seats in parliament. This increased to 198 after 1965 when Ghana became a one party state. At the start of the Second Republic in 1969, the number of seats were increased to 140.
