Eesti Laul
Eesti Laul (English: 'Estonian Song' or 'The Song of Estonia') is an annual music competition organised by Estonian public broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged every year since 2009. The contest was introduced in 2009, replacing the former Eurolaul festival, used since Estonia's first participation in Eurovision in 1993. Since its introduction, the competition has been one of the most popular television programmes in Estonia; it is also broadcast on radio and the Internet. In 2012, the semifinals averaged 199 thousand viewers, and over an estimated 296 thousand people in Estonia watched the final. Estonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Estonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Siren" written by Robin Juhkental. The song was performed by Malcolm Lincoln and Manpower 4. The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2010'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. Ten songs competed in the national final and the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a jury panel and a public vote selected the top two to qualify to the superfinal. In the superfinal, "Siren" performed by Malcolm Lincoln and Manpower 4 was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Estonia was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 25 May 2010. Performing during the show in position 3, "Siren" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Birgit Õigemeel
Birgit Sarrap (née Õigemeel, born 24 September 1988), also known as simply Birgit, is an Estonian singer. Õigemeel rose to prominence in 2007 after winning the first season of ''Eesti otsib superstaari'', the Estonian version of ''Idol''. Her debut self-titled studio album was later released in 2008. Õigemeel has gone on to release four other studio albums in her career. Õigemeel represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Et uus saaks alguse" after winning ''Eesti Laul 2013''. She qualified for the grand final, where she placed 20th. Career She started her musical career as a choir singer on Estonian Television children's choir and learned the violin at Kohila Music School.
