Edward Weisenburger
Edward Joseph Weisenburger, J.C.L., is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church, serving as the bishop of the Diocese of Tucson in Arizona since 2017. He previously served as the bishop of the Diocese of Salina in Kansas from 2012 to 2017. Biography Early life and education Weisenburger was born in Alton, Illinois on December 23, 1960, to Edward John Weisenburger and Asella (Walters) Weisenburger. Weisenburger grew up primarily in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he attended St. Barbara's Parish School and then graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1979. Deciding to enter the priesthood, Weisenburger began his studies at Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri, graduating with honors in 1983. He then traveled to Leuven, Belgium, to attend the American College Seminary at the Catholic University of Leuven. Conception Seminary College
Conception Abbey, site of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, is a monastery of the Swiss-American Congregation of the Benedictine Confederation. The monastery, founded by the Swiss Engelberg Abbey in 1873 in northwest Missouri's Nodaway County, was raised to a conventual priory in 1876 and elevated to an abbey in 1881. In 2021 the community numbered fifty-eight monks who celebrate the Eucharist and Liturgy of the Hours daily and who staff and administer Conception Seminary College, The Printery House, and the Abbey Guest Center. A vicar general (previously, archdeacon) is the principal deputy of the bishop of a diocese for the exercise of administrative authority and possesses the title of local ordinary. As vicar of the bishop, the vicar general exercises the bishop's Ordinary (church officer), ordinary executive (government), executive power over the entire diocese and, thus, is the highest official in a diocese or other particular church after the diocesan bishop or his equivalent in canon law. The title normally occurs only in Western Christian churches, such as the Latin Church of the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. Okarche ( ) is a town in Canadian and Kingfisher counties in Oklahoma, United States, that is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. The population was 1,215 at the 2010 census, a 9.5 percent increase from 1,110 at the 2000 census. History Okarche is located on land that, before 1830, was within the historic area of the Wichita people. Charles Alexander Kazimieras Salatka (February 26, 1918 – March 17, 2003) was a prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as archbishop of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City in Oklahoma from 1977 to 1992. Salatka was the first bishop of Lithuanian descent in the United States.
