Edward Vance
Edward A. Vance, FAIA (born May 28, 1957), an American architect, is the principal-in-charge of design and CEO at EV&A Architects, a specialty architecture firm he founded in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006. Vance has been a registered Architect in 19 states and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He served as the 2019 Chancellor of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. Life and education Vance was born in Redfield, South Dakota but spent his school years in Minnesota graduating from Eveleth High in 1975. Vance earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1979 from North Dakota State University, then studied in Western Europe and returned to North Dakota State University where he earned his bachelor of architecture degree in 1981. Redfield is a city in and the county seat of Spink County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 2,214 at the 2020 census. The city was named for J. B. Redfield, a railroad official. Island View Casino
The Island View Casino is a casino and hotel located in Gulfport, Mississippi. History The Island View is the successor to the Copa Casino, which was first located on a docked cruise ship and then a barge-based building at the Mississippi State Docks, across U.S. Highway 90 (Beach Blvd.) from the current location. The Copa and its neighbor, Grand Casino Gulfport, were both destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. When Grand Casino's parent Harrah's Entertainment decided not to rebuild, it sold the Grand site to Copa owners Rick Carter and Terry Green. When Mississippi legislators changed casino laws to permit new casinos to be built on dry land, the duo used the Grand's former hotel as a temporary casino for Phase I of their redevelopment. Ahern Hotel and Convention Center (formerly Lucky Dragon) is a boutique hotel and former casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The resort is located on of land at 300 West Sahara Avenue, near the Las Vegas Strip. The Ahern Hotel is adjacent to the Allure Las Vegas high-rise condominium, opened in 2008 by developer Andrew Fonfa. The resort's property was once planned as the site of a second Allure tower, which was cancelled due to poor economic conditions. While selling units in the first tower, Fonfa decided to build a hotel and casino on the adjacent site. Las Vegas Grand is an apartment complex located east of the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It was developed by Chris DelGuidice through his Florida-based company, Del American. Originally, DelGuidice planned to build apartments on the site around 2001, and he subsequently added a condominium component. The project was announced in August 2003, but the apartment aspect was removed from the project later that year because of rising construction costs. The project, to be known as Vegas Grand, was to consist of 880 condominium units. A class action lawsuit by condominium buyers was filed against Del American in 2005, after they were informed that the prices on their units would be raised in order to cover rising construction costs. Magnolia Bluffs Casino is a casino in Natchez, Mississippi. It has of gaming space, with 580 slot machines and 10 table games. History The casino site was the location of a sawmill, Learned's Mill, which opened in 1828 and operated until 1962. The project's original developer, the Lane Company, received preliminary approval from the Mississippi Gaming Commission in early 2008.
