The Honourable Edward Harbottle Grimston (born 2 April 1812 at Mayfair, London; died 4 May 1881 at Pebmarsh, Essex) was an English amateur cricketer and a Conservative Party politician who held a seat in the House of Commons from 1835 to 1841. Edward Grimston (Ipswich MP)
Edward Grimston (ca. 1508–1600), of Rishangles, Suffolk, was an English politician and comptroller of Calais. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipswich in 1563, 1571 and 1572, Eye in 1589 and Orford in 1593. Early life He was the son of Edward Grimston, by his wife Anne, daughter of John Garnish (Garneys) of Kenton, Suffolk. His grandfather was Edward Grimston (d. 19 March 1494), a son of the diplomat Edward Grimston (d. 1478), subject of the well-known portrait of 1446 by Petrus Christus (on long-term loan to the National Gallery from his descendant the Earl of Verulam), and his second wife Mary Drury. For a while he studied at Gonville Hall, Cambridge, but did not graduate. He was a commissioner in 1552 for the sale of church goods in Ipswich. Edward Grimston (1600–1624), of Bradfield Hall, Essex, was an English Member of Parliament (MP). Grimston was the eldest son of Sir Harbottle Grimston, 1st Baronet. His great-uncle was the Ipswich MP, Edward Grimston. Grimston was educated at Clare College, Cambridge University in 1616 and Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1617, with a BA 1618/19. He went to Gray's Inn in 1619. He married Magdalen née Marsham, a daughter of Thomas Marsham of Milk Street, London, and had one son and one daughter. He was buried 28 April 1624.
