Edward F. Swinney
Edward Fletcher Swinney (August 1, 1857 - October 24, 1946) was a prominent businessman and banker in the early twentieth century. Swinney served as president of the American Bankers Association and later as president of the First National Bank of Kansas City (now a part of the Bank of America). Swinney served on the Kansas City School Board from 1894 until 1918. Swinney was also a philanthropist who created, in 1944, the Edward F. Swinney Trust whose mission is "to be used for the furtherance and development of such public charitable and public educational purposes in the State of Missouri". The Swinney Recreation Center bears his name. Early life Swinney was born in Marysville, Virginia on August 1, 1857. He attended Blackburg University from 1872-1875. Swinney Recreation Center
Swinney Recreation Center is home to UMKC Campus Recreation and is the student recreation center for UMKC. The recreation center includes a fitness center, 5 multipurpose basketball courts, several group fitness studios, 3 racquetball courts, a boxing room, a squash court, an indoor track, a recreational field, an outdoor track and a large aquatics center. The recreation center offers memberships for UMKC students, faculty and staff as well as community members. The recreation center also holds a 1,500-seat arena It is the home of the UMKC men's and women's basketball teams, known since the 2019–20 season as the Kansas City Roos. Rich Hill, Missouri
Rich Hill is a city in southern Bates County, Missouri, and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 1,232 at the 2020 census. History Rich Hill was platted in 1880. The city was named in 1871 by C.W. Ratekin and used the slogan "The Town That Coal Built". Colorado City, Texas
Colorado City ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Mitchell County, Texas, United States. Its population was 3,991 at the 2020 census. History Colorado City originated as a ranger camp in 1877. It grew into a cattlemen's center and has been called "the Mother City of West Texas". The town acquired a railway station and post office in 1881 and was named the county seat. In the early 1880s it was a center for cattle shipment, with herds driven to Colorado City and loaded onto trains for shipment to the eastern markets.
