Edward Caruana Dingli (artist)
Edward Caruana Dingli (10 August 1876 – 9 May 1950) was a Maltese painter. Biography Edward Caruana Dingli was born on 10 August 1876 in Valletta to Raphael Caruana Dingli and Martha née Garroni. He followed his father in embarking on a career in the civil service, where he was commissioned to the Royal Malta Regiment of Militia, and later he transferred to the Royal Malta Artillery. He left military service in 1913 and became a full-time artist at the age of 37. He married Charlotte Marietta Giovanna Falzon for thirteen years, with whom he had two children, when he was 24. Following his separation from Falzon in 1913, he had a reputedly scandalous relationship with Olga Galea Naudi née Barbora, a long time acquaintance of Caruana Dingli and wife of an ex-military man Carlo Galea Naudi. Casino Maltese
The Casa del Commun Tesoro ( Italian for ''House of the National Treasury''), or ''Casa dei Conti del Tesoro'', is a building in Valletta, Malta, located in Republic Square facing the Bibliotheca. It was originally built to house the Treasury of the Order of St. John. Part of the building housed Malta's first post office, and over the years it was also used as government offices, a hotel and a cinema. Since the early 20th century, it has been the premises of a gentlemen's club known as the Casino Maltese. History The original building was most likely designed by Girolamo Cassar. The Casa del Commun Tesoro originally belonged to the Treasury of the Order of St. John, and it housed the Treasury's accounts, contracts and records. Auberge D'Italie
The Auberge d'Italie ( mt, Berġa tal-Italja, it, Albergo d'Italia) is an auberge in Valletta, Malta. It was built at various stages in the late 16th century to house knights of the Order of Saint John from the langue of Italy, and it originally had a Mannerist design by Girolamo Cassar and several other architects. The building continued to be modified throughout the course of the 17th century, with the last major renovation being carried out in the 1680s during the magistracy of Gregorio Carafa, giving the building a Baroque character. After the Order was expelled from Malta in 1798, the auberge was used for a number of purposes, housing a military headquarters, an officers' mess, a museum, a school of arts, a courthouse, the General Post Office and various government departments. Debbie Caruana Dingli (born 3 March 1962) is a Maltese painter. Biography Debbie Caruana Dingli was born on 3 March 1962 to Mario and Bertha née Curmi. Born into an artistic family, she represents the fourth generation of artists in her family, with her grandfather Robert Caruana Dingli and great-uncle Edward Caruana Dingli being amongst the most notable 20th Century Maltese artists. She started formal art tuition at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in St Julians under Margaret Chircop. She later graduated from the Malta government school of art where she was under the tutelage of Harry Alden. She was later awarded a diploma in Cartooning by the International Correspondence School in the UK. She hails from Sliema but resides in Siggiewi. In May 2016 she was involved in a major car accident in which she sustained several serious injuries, leaving her unable to paint using her right hand.
