Edward Braye
Sir Edward Braye (or Bray) (by 1492 – 1558) was an English Royal Navy captain, justice of the peace, high sheriff and MP. He was born the son of John Braye of Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire and the younger brother of Edmund Braye. Eaton Bray is a village and civil parish in Bedfordshire, England. It is situated about three miles south-west of the town of Dunstable and is part of a semi-rural area which extends into the parish of Edlesborough. In the 2011 United Kingdom census the population of the parish was recorded as 2,585. Toponym The toponym ''Eaton'' is common in England, being derived from the Old English ', meaning "farm by a river". Descent of the manor The Domesday Book of 1086 lists the manor as ''Eitone'', one of the numerous holdings throughout England of Odo, Bishop of Bayeux and Earl of Kent, uterine brother of King William the Conqueror. The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which is separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill.
