Eduardo Sáenz Hermúa
Eduardo Sáenz Hermúa (1859–1898), artistically known as Mecachis, was a Spanish cartoonist, illustrator, and playwright. He also signed works as Augusto Marnaz. Biography Born in 1859 in Madrid, he studied Medicine at the , but he dropped out in 1879 and trained instead at the Escuela Superior de Pintura under Federico Madrazo and Luis Rivera. He worked in publications such as ''La Broma'', ''Madrid Cómico'', ''La Caricatura'' (which he founded in 1884 together with José Gil y Campos), ''La Correspondencia de España'', and ''Blanco y Negro (magazine), Blanco y Negro''. Regarding his playwright credits, he authored, among others, ''Sol'', ''Tila'', ''Figaro'', ''Mademoiselle'', ''Pajarón'', ''El Barbero de mi barrio'', and ''Los Chicos''. He died on 29 July 1898. Federico Madrazo
Federico de Madrazo y Kuntz (9 February 181510 June 1894) was a Spanish painter. Biography Born in Rome, he was the son of José de Madrazo y Agudo, the painter and former Director of the Prado Museum. Federico's grandfather on his mother side was Tadeusz Kuntze, a Polish painter. His brothers were Luis de Madrazo, a painter, Pedro de Madrazo, an art critic and Juan de Madrazo, an architect. Among his children were Ricardo de Madrazo, also a painter, Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta and Cecilia de Madrazo who married the great Orientalist artist, Marià Fortuny. ''ABC'' () is a Spanish national daily newspaper. It is the second largest general-interest newspaper in Spain, number one in Madrid, and the oldest newspaper still operating in Madrid. Along with '' El Mundo'' and '' El País'', it is one of Spain’s three newspapers of record. History and profile ''ABC'' was first published in Madrid on 1 January 1903 by Torcuato Luca de Tena y Álvarez-Ossorio. ''Blanco y Negro'' (English: "White and Black") was a Spanish-language weekly art and literary magazine and later, the companion of the daily ''ABC''. The magazine was published in Madrid, Spain. History and profile ''Blanco y Negro'' was established in 1891. The title of the magazine was a reference to the contrasts in life such as laughter and tears and the sad and happy. Its founder was Torcuato Luca de Tena. The magazine was controlled by the Catholic Church through Editorial Catolica which also published it on a weekly basis. ''La Ilustración Española y Americana'' was a weekly Spanish magazine that was published from 1869 to 1921 on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 30th of every month. It was also published biweekly.
