Edinanci Fernandes da Silva (born 23 August 1976) is a judoka from Brazil, who won the gold medal in the half heavyweight division (– 78 kg) at the Pan American Games. A resident of São Paulo born in Sousa, Paraíba, Sousa, Paraíba, she represented her country at four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996 Summer Olympics, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. Intersex
Intersex people are individuals born with any of several sex characteristics including chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, "do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies". Sex assignment at birth usually aligns with a child's anatomical sex and phenotype. The number of births with ambiguous genitals is in the range of 1:2000–1:4500 (0.022%–0.05%).
