Eden, High Wycombe
Eden, known more popularly as the Eden Centre, is a shopping and entertainment complex in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in the south east of England. With a floor area of , it is the 37th largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom and the largest in the surrounding area. The centre has 107 shops, a bowling alley, a cinema, a library (which opened on 3 June 2008), parking for 1,600 cars on site, and car parking other car parks available nearby. The complex is part of a major regeneration of High Wycombe in a bid to transform the town into a regional shopping destination. The complex includes a new bus station and 48 residential flats. The bus station opened in July 2006 followed by the shopping centre on 13 March 2008. Eden attracted one million visitors within two weeks of opening and regularly attracts over 350,000 visitors per week. High Wycombe, often referred to as Wycombe ( ), is a market town in Buckinghamshire, England. Lying in the valley of the River Wye surrounded by the Chiltern Hills, it is west-northwest of Charing Cross in London, south-southeast of Aylesbury, southeast of Oxford, northeast of Reading and north of Maidenhead. According to the 2021 United Kingdom census, High Wycombe's built up area has a population of 127,856, making it the second largest town in the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire after Milton Keynes. High Wycombe Railway Station
High Wycombe railway station is a railway station in the town of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The station is on the Chiltern Main Line between and stations. It is served by Chiltern Railways. History The original terminus station was built in 1854 after an original design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The station had one platform and a train shed that covered two broad gauge tracks. On one side of the train shed was a single road engine shed and on the platform side were a booking office and waiting rooms (on the Birdcage Walk side). The walls of the train shed, an engine shed and offices were constructed from brick and knapped flint with slate roofs. This building remained as a station in use until 1864 when it became a goods shed. Between the 1880s and 1940 various additions were made to the fabric of the old station. The High Wycombe Coachway is a coachway interchange close to junction 4 of the M40 motorway to the west of High Wycombe opened on 16 January 2016. Prior to its establishment, some 150 coaches on the Oxford to London coach route passed High Wycombe each day without stopping because it would cause too much delay for other passengers were they to go via the town centre.
