Ede Király
Ede Király (23 February 1926 – 10 August 2009) was a Hungarian figure skater. As a competitor in men's singles, he was a three-time World Figure Skating Championships, World medalist (silver in 1949 and 1950, bronze in 1948), the 1950 European Figure Skating Championships, 1950 European champion, and a six-time Hungarian Figure Skating Championships, Hungarian national champion. Competing in pair skating, pairs with Andrea Kékesy, he became the Figure skating at the 1948 Winter Olympics, 1948 Olympic silver medalist, the 1949 World Figure Skating Championships, 1949 World champion, and a two-time European Figure Skating Championships, European champion (1948–1949). In the 1950s, Király became a coach in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Pair Skating
Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". Pair skating, along with men's and women's single skating, has been an Olympic discipline since figure skating, the oldest Winter Olympic sport, was introduced at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating.
