Eddy Gaumont
Eddy Gaumont, born Édouard Jean-Marie Émile Gaumont on August 14, 1946 in Cayenne, died on November 22, 1971 in Paris, was a drummer of jazz and free-jazz. Biography Eddy Gaumont is the sixth of nine siblings. He is the son of the politician Édouard Gaumont and of Josèphe Madeleine Polycarpe. The family left native Guyana to settle permanently in the Paris region at the beginning of the 1950s. Eddy grew up in a family where music held an important place, his younger sister Joëlle Gaumont is a classical concert pianist and his younger brother Dominique Gaumont was a guitarist. Eddy enrolled at the Versailles Conservatory in 1958 where he chose the violin. It is there in music theory class that he will meet Jacques Thollot and with whom will collaborate on several experiments and albums. Michel Portal
Michel Portal (born 27 November 1935) is a French composer, saxophonist, and clarinetist. He plays both jazz and classical music and is considered to be "one of the architects of modern European jazz". Early life Portal was born in Bayonne on 27 November 1935. His family was musical and there were several instruments in his house when he was growing up. His interest in jazz began after hearing it on the radio after World War II. He studied clarinet at the Conservatoire de Paris and conducting with Pierre Dervaux. Later life and career Portal "gained experience in light music with the bandleaders Henri Rossotti and (in Spain in 1958) Perez Prado, as well as with the drummer Benny Bennett (1960), Raymond Fonsèque (1963), Aimé Barelli, and, for many years, the singer Claude Nougaro". Jacques Doniol-Valcroze (; 15 March 1920 – 6 October 1989) was a French actor, critic, screenwriter, and director. In 1951, Doniol-Valcroze was a co-founder of the renowned film magazine ''Cahiers du cinéma'', along with André Bazin and Joseph-Marie Lo Duca. The magazine was initially edited by Doniol-Valcroze between 1951-1957. As critic, he championed numerous filmmakers including Orson Welles, Howard Hawks, and Nicholas Ray. Marion Brown (September 8, 1931 – October 18, 2010) was an American jazz alto saxophonist, composer, writer, visual artist, and ethnomusicologist. He was a member of the avant-garde jazz scene in New York City during the 1960s, playing alongside musicians such as John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, and John Tchicai.
