Eddie Wilson (baseball)
Edward Francis Wilson (September 7, 1909 – April 11, 1979) was a professional baseball player. He played parts of two seasons in Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1936 and 1937, primarily as a right fielder. Playing career Amateur career Wilson was a triple threat athlete at Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut starring in football, basketball and baseball, captaining both football and baseball teams in his senior year. Emmons Chick Bowens, renowned football, basketball and baseball coach at Hillhouse High, considered Eddie to be one of the most accomplished all-around athletes to come out of Connecticut. He went on to play college ball at College of the Holy Cross. Minor leagues Wilson broke into professional baseball at 19 in the Eastern League (baseball, 1916–32), Eastern League with the New Haven Profs. Edward Wardlaw Wilson (19 August 1907 – 16 April 1982) was a Scottish first-class cricketer and cricket administrator, and badminton player. Wilson was born in August 1907 at Burntisland, Fife. He was educated in Edinburgh at the Royal High School, before matriculating to the University of Edinburgh to study law. A club cricketer for the Royal High School Cricket Club, for whom he scored heavily for, Wilson made a single appearance in first-class cricket for Scotland against Ireland at Edinburgh in 1936. Batting twice in the match, he was dismissed in the Scottish first innings without scoring by James Graham, while in their second innings he was dismissed for a single run by Charles Billingsley. He later served as the president of the Scottish Cricket Union in 1963. In addition to playing cricket, Wilson was also a badminton player and was capped 25 times for Scotland between 1931 and 1950. ''Eddie and the Cruisers'' is a 1983 American musical drama film directed by Martin Davidson with the screenplay written by the director and Arlene Davidson, based on the novel by P. F. Kluge. The sequel '' Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives!'' followed in 1989. Plot A television reporter named Maggie Foley investigates the mysterious disappearance of cult rock star Eddie Wilson. Flashbacks dramatize Eddie's life and the rise and fall of his rock and roll band, Eddie and the Cruisers. The band gets its start at a club in Somers Point, New Jersey named Tony Mart's. Not adept at writing lyrics, Eddie hires Frank Ridgeway aka "Wordman" to be the band's keyboard player and lyricist, over the protests of band manager Doc Robbins and bassist Sal Amato. Edwin Osbourne Wilson is a former concert promoter and co-founder and owner of the Armadillo World Headquarters (1973–1980). The music venue led a music movement in Austin to national prominence from 1973 to 1980 as the birthplace of Texas progressive county, aka "redneck rock" – a fusion of country music and rock – later, more blues than rock. It was a popular venue for Willie Nelson. Wilson is the owner of two Threadgill's restaurants in Austin. The original, which he purchased in the mid–1970s from John Kenneth Threadgill (1909–1987), was where Janis Joplin got her start. Growing up Wilson graduated from McCallum High School, Austin, Texas, in the spring of 1963. In the fall of 1963, he enrolled at the University of North Texas in Denton.
