Eddie Sturgis
Eddie Sturgis (1881–1947), also known as Edwin Sturgis, Ed Sturgis, or Edward Sturgis, was an American character actor of the silent and sound film eras. His career began in the 1916 film, '' The Lost Bridegroom'', which starred John Barrymore. In his twenty-three year career, he appeared in over fifty films, mostly in supporting or smaller roles. His final performance would be in the 1939 Joe E. Brown vehicle, ''Beware, Spooks!'', in a minor role. Sturgis died on December 13, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. A film poster is a poster used to promote and advertise a film primarily to persuade paying customers into a theater to see it. Studios often print several posters that vary in size and content for various domestic and international markets. They normally contain an image with text. The film stars Milton Sills, Margaret Campbell, Claire Adams, Eddie Sturgis, Faye O'Neill, and Charles A. Stevenson. The film was released on July 30, 1923, by Universal Pictures. Plot A reporter Will Campbell gets himself arrested to get material for a story. He later gets a job as a bank teller but is hounded by a detective who knows Campbell is an ex-con. The detective is found murdered and Campbell is sentenced to death for the crime. He is hung just before he found innocent but a doctor revives him by giving him a shot of adrenaline. ''Man and Woman'' is a 1920 American silent drama film produced by A. H. Fischer, Inc. Directors were Charles Logue and B. A. Rolfe with Gene O'Donnell and Conrad Wells (as A. Fried) as cinematographers. Logue wrote the story and the screenplay. Plot A young Civil engineer builds a bridge that later collapses which causes him to mentally collapse. He retreats to a South Pacific Ocean island and becomes a beachcomber. Later one of his former engineering supervisors comes to the island with his daughter to repair a lighthouse. She bets the local Governor that she can dress up a beach bum to pass as a society swell. She picks the young former engineer. ''The Oakdale Affair'' is a short contemporary mystery novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. It was written in 1917 under the working title of "Bridge and the Oskaloosa Kid", and is a partial sequel to ''The Mucker'' (1914/1916). It was adapted into a silent film in 1919 starring Evelyn Greeley. Bridge, the protagonist, was a secondary character in the earlier work. It was first published in ''Blue Book Magazine'' in March 1918. Its first book publication paired it with an unrelated tale, " The Rider", in '' The Oakdale Affair and The Rider'', issued by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. in February 1937 and subsequently reprinted by Grosset & Dunlap in 1937, 1938 and 1940.
