Eddie Perfect
Eddie Perfect (born 17 December 1977) is an Australian singer-songwriter, pianist, comedian, writer and actor. Widely known for his role as Mick Holland in Channel Ten's TV series ''Offspring'' in which he performs his own music, he has recorded solo albums and written and performed numerous cabaret shows, including ''Songs from the Middle'' with the Brodsky Quartet. His biographical musical comedy '' Shane Warne: The Musical'' won the 2009 Helpmann Award for Best New Australian Work, a Victorian Premier's Literary Award and a Green Room Award. Following his songwriting career on Broadway, where he composed ''Beetlejuice'' and ''King Kong'', Perfect returned to Australia where he was to star as Franklin Hart Jr. in Dolly Parton's musical ''9 to 5'' in late 2020, although it was subsequently indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Maxwell Irvine Gillies AM (born 16 November 1941) is an Australian actor and a founding member of the 1970s experimental theatre company, the Australian Performing Group. Early life and education Gillies studied art teaching at Frankston Teachers College and featured in the theatre productions ''School for Scandal'' and ''Summer of the Seventeenth Doll'' with Kerry Dwyer in 1964. He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. He then studied secondary teaching at the Melbourne Teachers' College, now part of the University of Melbourne. ''Rock Against Howard, Musicians Against the Liberal Government'' is an Australian compilation CD featuring anti-Coalition musicians, released in 2004. The project hoped to inspire young voters to turn out in federal elections that year to vote against then-Prime Minister John Howard, but Howard's party prevailed all the same. ''Rock Against Howard'' was organised by Frenzal Rhomb guitarist Lindsay McDougall, when he realised every musician he knew felt the same way about Howard. McDougall told Daniel Johnson of ''The Age'' that "I wanted to get more and different music fans and acts in on the idea of ''Rock Against Howard'', and it also adequately reflects my taste in music, because I've got a bunch of my favourite bands on here as well." The Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) is the largest stand-alone comedy festival and the second-largest international comedy festival in the world. Established in 1987, it takes place annually in Melbourne over four weeks, typically starting in March and running through to April.
