Eddie MacDonald (ice Hockey)
Edward 'Eddie' MacDonald is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender who was a two-time All-American for Clarkson, and was in net for every game of their undefeated season in 1955–56. Career MacDonald was one of several Canadian players to travel south to play at Clarkson College of Technology for Bill Harrison. After a year with the freshman team, MacDonald joined the varsity squad just in time for the best season in program history. While the offense dominated the competition, scoring nearly seven and a half goals per game, MacDonald backstopped the team to an undefeated record, allowing just 58 goals in the 23 games. The unblemished mark, the first for qualifying NCAA competition, earned Clarkson a bid to the 1956 NCAA Tournament. Ken Dryden
Kenneth Wayne Dryden (born August 8, 1947) is a Canadian politician, lawyer, businessman, author, and former National Hockey League (NHL) goaltender. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He was a Liberal Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2011 and Minister of Social Development from 2004 to 2006. In 2017, the league counted him in history's 100 Greatest NHL Players. He received the Order of Hockey in Canada in 2020. Early life and education Dryden was born in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1947. His parents were Murray Dryden (1911–2004) and Margaret Adelia Campbell (1912-1985). He has a sister, Judy, and a brother, Dave, who was also an NHL goaltender. Jim Mattson
James Mattson is an American ice hockey goaltender who backstopped Minnesota to its first two NCAA Tournament appearances. Career Mattson grew up playing junior hockey in the Minnesota area, but for his senior year of high school he headed to Nova Scotia. He only appeared in 7 games for the Halifax St. Mary's because he joined the University of Minnesota for the spring semester in 1952. Mattson played 8 games for the gophers, providing much needed stability in goal as Minnesota finished the season winning 7 of their final 8 games. The following year Mattson started for the Gophers and he produced phenomenal results; he tied the NCAA record with 22 wins and finished second in the nation with a 2.36 goals against average setting single-season program records in wins, g.a.a., save percentage, and helped the gophers win their first conference title (tied with Michigan). Willard Ikola
Willard John Ikola (born July 28, 1932) is an American retired ice hockey player and high school boys' hockey coach. Born in Eveleth, Minnesota, a powerhouse in hockey (owning seven state high school championships, including the very first Minnesota state hockey tournament in 1945, and producing six members of US Olympic hockey teams) he began playing hockey as a young boy, eventually going on to play in the 1956 Winter Olympics and coaching high school for over 30 years. Early life Willard Ikola was born in Eveleth, a small town in northern Minnesota that had one of the states most respected youth hockey programs. Ikola got his start playing hockey as a boy in Eveleth.
