Edda Award for Best Television Personality (Icelandic: ''Sjónvarpsmaður ársins'') is an award at the Icelandic Film and Television Awards (Edda Awards The Edda Award is an accolade bestowed annually by the Icelandic Film and Television Academy, and is the most prominent film and television award in Iceland, awarded annually in February. The result is decided by the Icelandic public, which is able to vote for their favorite person on television online in a small time period up to the awards. In recent years the award has become highly sought after by the television nominees and they can be quite competitive towards one another up to the award ceremony. The Edda Award is an accolade bestowed annually by the Icelandic Film and Television Academy, and is the most prominent film and television award in Iceland, awarded annually in February. except in 2009 due to the economic crash the year before. In 2010, the event was moved from the usual November date to February, and the eligibility period for that year was from 1 November 2008 to 30 December 2009. Since 2011, the eligibility period is the previous calendar year.

2nd Edda Awards
The 2nd Edda Awards were held on 19 November 2000 at the National Theatre of Iceland. The awards were hosted by actress Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir and TV presenter Jón Ársæll Þórðarson. The awards were broadcast live on RÚV. The public could cast their vote online on the Icelandic news website ''Morgunblaðið''. Public votes had 30% say in the results, and the academy the other 70%. The public was also able to vote for " Best Television Personality" and their vote had 100% say in the result. The film ''Angels of the Universe'' (''Englar alheimsins''), based on the novel by Einar Már Guðmundsson, received most nominations. It received eight nominations and won seven awards. Ratings A Gallup poll took place on request from The Icelandic Film and Television Academy. The result showed that 65% of the Icelandic people tuned in to watch the live broadcast and 86% of those asked were satisfied with the show. 1st Edda Awards
The 1st Edda Awards ceremony was held on 15. November 1999 by the Icelandic Film and Television Academy (ÍKSA). The awards were held at the Reykjavík City Theatre in Reykjavík, and were hosted by Þorfinnur Ómarsson, director of the Icelandic Film Fund. Awards were given in eight categories, plus one Honorary Award given for special contribution to the Icelandic film industry. ''Ungfrúin góða og húsið'' (''The Honour of the House''), based on the novel by Halldór Laxness, received five nominations, The film ended up winning two awards, for Best Film and Best Director. The public could cast their vote online on the Icelandic news website, ''Morgunblaðið''. Public votes had 30% say in the results, and the academy the other 70%. Logi Bergmann Eiðsson
Logi Bergmann Eiðsson (born 2 December 1966) is an Icelandic television host, news anchor and reporter. He worked for the public broadcaster Sjónvarpið before his move to private channel Stöð 2 in 2005. He later started work at Sjónvarp Símans in 2017. Eiðsson started his career in media as a reporter for the newspaper ''Þjóðviljinn'', and later for ''Morgunblaðið''. Eiðsson was a sports correspondent, and later news reporter, anchor, producer and deputy head of news for Sjónvarpið, in addition to hosting the quiz show ''Gettu betur'' for six years. He started a quiz show called ''spurningabomban on stöð tvö''. After his move to Sjónvarp Símans he started a show called ''með Loga''. 3rd Edda Awards
The 3rd Edda Awards were held on 11 November 2001 at Broadway Night Club in Reykjavik. The awards were hosted by actress Edda Heiðrún Backman and singer Valgeir Guðjónsson. The show was broadcast live on RÚV. Short films were also included for the first time in the Edda Award for Best television program (staged), Best television program (staged).
