Etxebarri
Etxebarri, Doneztebeko Elizatea ( es, Etxebarri, Anteiglesia de San Esteban) is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Autonomous Basque Community, in the North of Spain. Since 13 January 2005, the name of "Etxebarri, Doneztebeko Elizatea" has been changed officially to "Etxebarri" to simplify the name. It translates as "new home/house" (''etxe'' "home", ''barri'' "new"). Prior to the introduction of Standard Basque, the town's name was spelled ''Echevarri''. Etxebarri has an area of 33.38 square kilometres and a population of 11,563 people (2019), with a density of 346 inhabitants/km2. Being so close to Bilbao (1.5 kilometres) has had a direct effect on Etxebarri. Until a few decades ago, Etxebarri was a small nucleus in which its rural population worked in industrial areas. Javier Echevarría Rodríguez
Javier Echevarría Rodríguez (14 June 1932 – 12 December 2016) was a Spanish bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. Until his death, he was the head of the Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei. He held doctorates in both civil and canon law. Within the Roman Curia, the governing body of the Catholic Church, he was a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. He wrote a number of books on spirituality: ''Paths to God: Building a Christian Life in the 21st Century'', ''Para servir a la Iglesia'', ''Getsemaní'', ''Eucaristía y vida cristiana''. Ofill Echevarria (born 1972 in Havana, Cuba) is a painter and multimedia artist based in New York City. Ofill graduated from the Elementary School of Fine Arts '20 de Octubre' in 1986 and from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. As a founder member of the controversially famous Havanan art collective, Arte Calle (1986-1988) becomes part of the Cuban art scene of the late eighties. In 1991 he traveled to Mexico City to pursue an art scholarship, where he lived for ten years. In 2002, represented by the renowned Praxis International Art - Mexico, which later became the Alfredo Ginocchio Gallery, both in Mexico City, Ofill moved to Miami. In 2005 he moved to New York City, where she currently lives and works. Ignacio Echevarría Pérez (Barcelona, 1960) is a Spanish literary critic and editor. Echevarría was a staff member of Spanish newspaper '' El País''., until its editors removed him in 2004 for a vituperative review of ''El hijo del acordeonista'' by Basque writer Bernardo Atxaga. The novel had appeared in Alfaguara, a publishing house then owned by the same media group as the newspaper. Etxebarri (Metro Bilbao)
Etxebarri is a station on lines 1 and 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is the southern terminus of line 1. The station is located in the municipality of Etxebarri, part of the Bilbao metropolitan area. It was opened in 2005. The station is on Fuenlabrada street, next to a park and ride parking facility. The Euskotren Trena commuter railway network has a station with the same name at a distance of about , but the two stations are not connected. Services The station is served by the line 1 to Ibarbengoa and Plentzia, and also by line 2 from Basauri to Santurtzi. Connecting bus services are provided by EtxebarriBus, a local bus service managed by the Etxebarri municiaplity.
