Ebbe Rørdam
Ebbe Rørdam (10 January 1925 – 16 March 1945) was a member of the Danish resistance killed by the German occupying power. Biography Rørdam was born 10 January 1925 in Hvilsager as the second child of parish priest Johannes Holger Rørdam and wife Kirsten née Hansen and was baptized by his father in Hvilsager Church the Sunday before Lent that year. In 1939 on the first Sunday after Easter, Rørdam was confined by his father in the Torkilstrup church. On 16 March 1945, Rørdam died in connection with the sabotage of an ammunition train. After his death After the liberation, Rørdam's remains were exhumed at Ryvangen and transferred to the Department of Forensic Medicine of the University of Copenhagen. On 14 June 1945, an inquest at the University found that he died from a skull fracture. Parish Register
A parish register in an ecclesiastical parish is a handwritten volume, normally kept in the parish church in which certain details of religious ceremonies marking major events such as baptisms (together with the dates and names of the parents), marriages (with the names of the partners), children, and burials (that had taken place within the parish) are recorded. Along with these vital details, church goods, the parish's response to briefs, and notes on various happenings in the parish were also recorded. These elaborate records existed for the purpose of preventing bigamy and consanguineous marriage. Hans Fuglsang-Damgaard
Hans Fuglsang-Damgaard (29 July 1890 – 8 July 1979) was a bishop of the diocese of Copenhagen for 25 years including the years of the Nazi Germany, German occupation. Early life and education Hans Fuglsang-Damgaard was born on 29 July 1890 in Fuglsang, Oksenvad parish to proprietor Ole Christian Damgaard. From and baptized Hans Fuglsang Damgaard in Oksenvad church on the fourteenth Sunday after Trinity Sunday, Trinity. At the time Oksenvad was part of Germany and Fuglsang-Damgaard was thus part of the Danish population in German Northern Schleswig. Grundtvig's Church
Grundtvig's Church ( da, Grundtvigs Kirke) is located in the Bispebjerg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a rare example of expressionist church architecture. Due to its originality, it is one of the best known churches in the city. History The commission for the construction of a church to be named after the Danish philosopher, pastor and hymn writer N. F. S. Grundtvig was decided through a competition, won by Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint in 1913. The foundation of the new church was only laid after World War I, on 8 September 1921, Grundtvig's birthday. Building took place mainly from 1921 to 1926 when the tower section was completed, leading to the initial inauguration of the so-called Tower Church in 1927. Ryvangen or Ryvangskvarteret (English language, English: The Ryvang neighbourhood) is a neighbourhood of single-family detached homes in the northern part of Østerbro, on the border with Hellerup, in Copenhagen, Denmark. History The name Ryvangen translates to "The Rye Field". The portion located to the west of the Nordbanen, north-bound railway line was ceded to the Royal Danish Army, Army in 1893 and used for the construction of the Svanemøllen Barracks.
