The Eastside is home to the U.S. state of Oklahoma's largest African American community. It is located roughly East of Interstate 235 and North of Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City. It is also where the state's Capitol Building is located. Interstate 235 (Oklahoma)
Interstate 235 (I-235) in Oklahoma is also known as the Centennial Expressway or the I-235 Central Expressway. The spur route of I-35 is a north–south alignment in central and north-central Oklahoma City. It connects northbound to U.S. Highway 77 (US-77) to suburban Edmond and southbound at I-44 on to I-35 and the I-40 Crosstown Expressway near downtown Oklahoma City. US-77 is concurrent with I-235 for the entire route. South of its junction with I-40, I-235 becomes I-35. Interstate 40 (I-40) is a major east–west Interstate Highway running through the south-central portion of the United States. Oklahoma State Capitol
The Oklahoma State Capitol is the house of government of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is the building that houses the Oklahoma Legislature and executive branch offices. It is located along Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City and contains 452,508 square feet of floor area. The present structure includes a dome completed in 2002. Oklahoma's first capital was Guthrie, Oklahoma, but it moved to Oklahoma City in 1910. Construction began on the Oklahoma State Capitol in 1914 and was completed in 1917. Originally, it housed the judicial branch of Oklahoma, but the state's high courts moved most of their operations to the Oklahoma Judicial Center in 2011, leaving only the Supreme Court Hearing Chamber in the capitol building. OU Health is the combination of OU Medical Center – Oklahoma City & Edmond, the Children's Hospital, OU Physicians, OU Children's Physicians, the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Oklahoma Cancer Center. The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is a public medical school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is the health sciences branch of the University of Oklahoma and serves as the primary place of instruction for many of Oklahoma's health professions. The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institute.
