East Kolkata
East Kolkata refers to the eastern areas of the city of Kolkata, India. It includes the localities of Metropolitan Township, Dhapa, Tangra, Bantala, Topsia, Tiljala, VIP Nagar, Anandapur, Kalikapur, Mukundapur, Ajoy Nagar, Panchasayar and certain parts of Garia like Baishnabghata-Patuli Township, Chak Garia, Nayabad and New Garia. The northern part of East Kolkata is dominated by the townships of Salt Lake and New Town. The region is characterized by well planned (regular) residential blocks and houses many of the attractions of the city. Transport The main road transport artery is the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass which runs from Ultadanga in the north to Baruipur Puratan Bazar in the south. Mukundapur, Kolkata
Mukundapur is a neighbourhood of East Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Police district Purba Jadavpur police station is part of the East division of Kolkata Police. It is located at 305, Mukundapur Main Road, Kolkata-700 099. Jadavpur, Thakurpukur, Behala, Purba Jadavpur, Tiljala, Regent Park, Metiabruz, Nadial and Kasba police stations were transferred from South 24 Parganas to Kolkata in 2011. Kolkata Metro Line 6
Kolkata Metro Line 6 or the Orange Line of the Kolkata Metro is an under-construction rapid transit line that will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two satellite towns Salt Lake and New Town. The line is targeted to open from Kavi Subhash to Sector-V in 2023. VIP Road
VIP Road (officially Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue) is a major thoroughfare connecting the city of Kolkata with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Dumdum/Kolkata Airport. Located in the North-Eastern outskirts of the city, it was built in 1962 to provide speedy connection with the city and its sole airport. VIP Road is part of State Highway 3 (West Bengal), State Highway 3. To reduce traffic jams especially in the crossings of Kestopur and Baguiati, a flyover is constructed over the stretch between Dum Dum Park and Raghunathpur, which opened in March 2015. Another flyover connecting VIP Road with EM Bypass was opened in 2011, reducing traffic bottlenecks at Ultadanga crossing. Baruipur
Baruipur () is a town and a municipality of the South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). It is the headquarters of the Baruipur subdivision. Ultadanga
Ultadanga is one of the most crowded junctions in Kolkata. The place is located at the north-eastern fringe of the city and marks the limit of Kolkata district. Eastern Metropolitan Bypass
The Eastern Metropolitan Bypass (known simply as both ''E.M. Bypass'' and ''EM Bypass'') is a (Including Kamalgazi to Baruipur extension) major road on the east side of Kolkata. It connects Ultadanga (North Kolkata) to Baruipur Puratan Bazar (South Kolkata). The road is a major link to Salt Lake and New Town. EM Bypass is part of both State Highway 1 and State Highway 3. Much high-end construction and development in Kolkata has been centred around the Bypass. It was designed as a six to eight-lane bypass to lessen traffic congestion on the entire stretch of Gariahat Road. Bidhannagar is a planned urban agglomeration and city and a municipal corporation of the North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is in Greater Kolkata region and also a part of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). New Garia is a neighbourhood located in the eastern part of Garia, Kolkata, India. Chak Garia is a neighbourhood located in the eastern part of Garia, in West Bengal, India.
