Bidhannagar
Bidhannagar is a planned urban agglomeration and city and a municipal corporation of the North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is in Greater Kolkata region and also a part of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). It consists of sub areas like Rajarhat and Salt lake, which were planned and developed between 1958 and 1965 to accommodate the burgeoning population of Kolkata. Demographics At the 2011 census, Bidhannagar Municipality had a population of 218,323 (males 111,363; females 106,960) in an area of approximately 13.16 square km with a density of about 16,590 persons per square kilometre. However, the area of Bidhannagar Municipality was 33.50 square km (much bigger than Salt Lake City) because it includes East Kolkata Wetlands area, where very few floating people live. Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation
Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation is the local government responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of Salt Lake and Rajarhat areas in Greater Kolkata. Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation was headed by Administrator Shri Pawan Kadyan, IAS till elections were held in October 2015 after delimitation into 41 wards (Ward No.s 1 to 26 from Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality, Ward No. 27 from Mahishbathan II Gram Panchayat and Ward No.s 28 to 41 from Bidhannagar Municipality). This constituted its first Board of Councillors and Mayor-in-Council with Shri Pawan Kadyan, IAS transitioning into the role of Municipal Commissioner. Baguiati is a locality in Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK; ), commonly known as the Salt Lake Stadium, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium located in Bidhannagar, with current capacity of 85,000 spectators. Named after Swami Vivekananda, the stadium forms the home ground for multiple football clubs, most notably ATK Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Mohammedan. It is the fifth largest sports stadium in Asia by seating capacity. Before its renovation in 2011, it was the largest football stadium in the world, having a seating capacity of 120,000.
