East Grinstead Hockey Club
East Grinstead Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, England. It is one of the most successful clubs in the United Kingdom with National League Outdoor and Indoor honours. It was founded in 1897. The home ground is at EGSC, near Saint Hill. The club has a water-based pitch with seats for the spectators as well as a 3G Hockey/Football pitch and clubhouse. The stadium is named Saint Hill with a maximum capacity of 250. The Men's 1st XI play in the Men's England Hockey League and the Ladies 1st XI play in the Women's England Hockey League. The club currently fields six men's teams, five women's teams and respective youth development teams. Every three years, the club hosts the Jacques Paloume tournament. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. The league was sponsored by Slazenger and the men's title was won by East Grinstead with the women's title going to Bowdon Hightown. There were no playoffs during the season. Sophie Charlotte Bray, (born 12 May 1990) is an English international field hockey player who played as a forward for England and Great Britain. She currently plays club hockey in the Investec Women's Hockey League Premier Division for East Grinstead. Personal life Bray lives in Claygate, Surrey but was born in France where her father worked as a marketing consultant. Back in England she played tennis and football at local clubs, representing Surrey at tennis aged 11. She gave up playing tennis and played football for Fulham Ladies, because she preferred a team sport. Cathy Gilliat-Smith (born 19 March 1981, also known as Cath Nicholson) is an English international field hockey player who played as a forward for England and Great Britain, achieving 64 international caps.
