East Forest
East Forest is an American ambient/ electronic/contemporary classical/indie pop artist from Portland, Oregon, United States. The project was created by Trevor Oswalt who derived "East Forest" from the German translation of his last name (technically Ostwald: Ost=East, Wald=Forest). To date he has released eight full-length albums and six EPs. He has toured extensively throughout North America, as well as performances in Europe. He also performed at festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Lightning in a Bottle, Arise, and Mysteryland. Music entertainment and pop culture website Altoriot.com referred to East Forest as the "sleeper-hit and best hidden gem" at the 2014 SXSW festival. Peter Broderick (born January 20, 1987) is an American musician and composer from Carlton, Oregon. He has released solo material under his own name, been a member of Efterklang, and played with several ensembles as a session musician. Biography Broderick was born in Searsmont, Maine in 1987 but raised mostly in Carlton, Oregon. He learned a number of musical instruments whilst at school, and went on to become a session musician, playing violin, banjo, musical saw, and mandolin on recordings by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean and others. He played and toured with numerous groups, including Horse Feathers, Norfolk & Western, Loch Lomond and Laura Gibson. Christopher Willits (born April 8, 1978) is a San Francisco-based guitarist, electronic music composer and producer, visual artist and scholar. His music is electroacoustic in nature, in that both analogue and digital sounds are meshed into one singular sound. Biography Born in Kansas City, MO, Willits began playing guitar when he was about 13. He got his first guitar after a football game when, out of the blue, his father suggested they buy one for him. He'd played piano as a child, but up to this point, his main interest had been sports. "I couldn't really stand piano. It felt too boxy and classical," he remembers. Slow Meadow is an American solo music project founded in Houston, Texas by Matt Kidd. Slow Meadow creates atmospheric ambient chamber music. History Matt Kidd began creating post-rock and ambient soundscapes in 2012, ultimately releasing 2 albums under the name Aural Method. After taking a break from releasing music of his own for two years, Kidd befriended Marc Byrd of Hammock, and, with his encouragement, began creating more ambient music under his new moniker, Slow Meadow. Nick Mulvey (born 4 November 1984) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. He played the hang as a founding member of the band Portico Quartet. In 2011 started his career as a singer-songwriter releasing the EPs ''The Trellis'' (2012) and ''Fever to the Form'' (2013) and his studio album ''First Mind'' in 2014 which received a Mercury Music Prize nomination.
