EMU500
The EMU500 series is a series of electric multiple unit passenger trains operated by Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). The trains are built as local trains and are used throughout the country's rail network. History In the 1990s, the TRA was facing an aging fleet of local trains, all of which did not feature air conditioning. Therefore, in 1993, the company entered a contract with South Korean manufacturer Daewoo to build 344 cars, which would be arranged into 86 trainsets. The first of these trains arrived in the summer of 1995, and the first passenger service began in 11 October of the same year. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Taiwan Railway EMU400 Series
The Taiwan Railway EMU400 was an electric train purchased by Taiwan Railway from South Africa in 1990 and is the first-generation of commuter electric train for Taiwan Railways. A total of 48 vehicles in 12 groups have been introduced, which have been put into commuter train services between Hsinchu and Keelung since the beginning of operation, replacing the non-air-conditioned commuter buses formerly used along the route. EMU600 Series
The EMU600 series is a series of electric multiple unit passenger trains operated by Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). The trains are built as local trains and are used throughout the island’s rail network. History With the electrification of the Yilan line and the North-link line in the early 2000s, the TRA faced a shortage of electric passenger trains. Therefore, in 1999, the TRA contracted South Korean manufacturer KOROS to build 56 more cars divided into 14 trainsets. The first two trainsets were shipped to Taiwan on October 3, 2000. When KOROS merged with other companies in 2002 to form Hyundai Rotem, the new company continued to produce the trains.
