Ezra Kire
Ezra Kire (born Ezra Cannon, December 30, 1975) is an American musician with the punk band Morning Glory (band), Morning Glory, and is an ex-member of punk bands Leftöver Crack, Choking Victim and INDK, InDK. He currently resides in New York City. Early life Ezra Kire was born on December 30, 1975, in the town of Grand Forks, North Dakota, near the Canada–US border. In his youth his family frequently moved across North America, then eventually to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he attended high school at the Overseas School of Colombo. It was there that he started his first band with friend Derek Dees. In 1990 the two 8th graders played their first show at the school cafeteria, along with another two shows later that year, including the senior prom. After leaving Sri Lanka, Ezra moved to the small Canadian town of Nelson, British Columbia, where he played in the band Dead Faculty. Choking Victim was an American punk band formed in New York City, which lasted from 1992 to 1998. They played a mix of hardcore punk and ska (sometimes known as ska-core). Following the breakup of the band, which occurred the same day as the recording of their only studio album ''No Gods, No Managers'', members went on to form Leftöver Crack and INDK, among others. Background The band became well-known at the C-Squat in the Lower East Side of Manhattan for their innovative music and politically charged lyrics. They also became infamous for their Satanic imagery and references to the vagrant lifestyle, including smoking both crack cocaine and marijuana, shoplifting, and squatting. The band prides itself on its atheism, and makes frequent references to Satan. On the album ''No Gods, No Managers'', they use excerpts from the lectures of political scientist Michael Parenti. Ezra (; he, עֶזְרָא, '; fl. 480–440 BCE), also called Ezra the Scribe (, ') and Ezra the Priest in the Book of Ezra, was a Jewish scribe (''sofer'') and priest (''kohen''). In Greco-Latin Ezra is called Esdras ( grc-gre, Ἔσδρας). According to the Hebrew Bible he was a descendant of Sraya, the last High Priest to serve in the First Temple, and a close relative of Joshua, the first High Priest of the Second Temple. He returned from Babylonian exile and reintroduced the Torah in Jerusalem. According to 1 Esdras, a Greek translation of the Book of Ezra still in use in Eastern Orthodoxy, he was also a High Priest. Rabbinic tradition holds that he was an ordinary member of the priesthood. Several traditions have developed over his place of burial. Alternative Tentacles
Alternative Tentacles is an independent record label established in 1979 in San Francisco, California. It was used by Dead Kennedys for the self-produced single " California Über Alles". After realizing the potential for an independent label, they released records for other bands as well. Dead Kennedys guitarist East Bay Ray and vocalist Jello Biafra formed Alternative Tentacles, but Biafra became the sole owner in the mid-1980s. Alternative Tentacles no longer owns the rights to Dead Kennedys recordings after a 2000 lawsuit. Citizen Fish is an English punk rock band that has been active since 1990 and shares members with Subhumans. Nausea (band)
Nausea was an American hardcore punk band from New York City, active from 1985 to 1992. They are cited as a notable band in the first wave of crust punk. Prior to Nausea, guitarist Victor Dominicis played in the hardcore punk bands Hellbent and Sacrilege. Nausea were involved in the New York City Lower East Side squatting community. Their earlier sound with singers Amy Miret and Neil Robinson was in the vein of hardcore punk. After Robinson's departure, he was replaced by Al Long and the band began to experiment with darker, metal influences. Robinson went on to form the bands Jesus Crust and Final Warning, as well as start Tribal War Records. Thulsa Doom
Thulsa Doom is a fictional character created by American author Robert E. Howard, as an antagonist for the character Kull of Atlantis. Thulsa Doom debuted in the story "Delcardes' Cat". He has since appeared in comic books and film as the nemesis of Kull and, later, one of Howard's other creations, Conan the Barbarian.
