Ezekiel McLeod
Ezekiel McLeod, (October 29, 1840 – June 11, 1920) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented the city of St. John in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1882 to 1886 and the City of St. John in the House of Commons of Canada from 1891 to 1896 as a Conservative member. He was born in Cardwell, New Brunswick, the son of John McLeod and Mary McCready. He received an LL.B from Harvard University in 1867 and was called to the bar the following year. McLeod served as attorney general in the province's executive council from 1882 to 1883. In 1882, he was named Queen's Counsel. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1886. McLeod was Chief Justice of New Brunswick from 1914 to 1917. Ezekiel (; he, יְחֶזְקֵאל ''Yəḥezqēʾl'' ; in the Septuagint written in grc-koi, Ἰεζεκιήλ ) is the central protagonist of the Book of Ezekiel in the Hebrew Bible. In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Ezekiel is acknowledged as a Hebrew prophet. In Judaism and Christianity, he is also viewed as the 6th-century BCE author of the Book of Ezekiel, which reveals prophecies regarding the destruction of Jerusalem, and the restoration to the land of Israel. The name Ezekiel means "God is strong" or "God strengthens". In the Bible The author of the Book of Ezekiel presents himself as Ezekiel, the son of Buzi, born into a priestly (kohen) lineage. CP Ships
CP Ships was a large Canadian shipping company established in the 19th century. From the late 1880s until after World War II, the company was Canada's largest operator of Atlantic and Pacific steamships. Many immigrants travelled on CP ships from Europe to Canada. The sinking of the steamship just before World War I was the largest maritime disaster in Canadian history. The company provided Canadian Merchant Navy vessels in World Wars I and II. John Douglas Hazen
Sir John Douglas Hazen, (June 5, 1860 – December 27, 1937) was a politician in New Brunswick, Canada. Biography Known by his second name, Douglas, he entered politics in 1885 when he was elected as an alderman for Fredericton City Council. He became mayor in 1888. Hazen was elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a Conservative candidate in the 1891 federal election. He lost his seat in the 1896 election that defeated the Conservatives and brought Wilfrid Laurier's Liberals to power. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 1899, and became leader of the opposition. Hazen rebuilt the Conservative Party which had been out of power since 1883. Frederick Eustace Barker, (December 27, 1838 – December 15, 1915) was a Canadian lawyer, judge and politician. He was in office for 2 years. Biography Born in Sheffield, New Brunswick, the son of Enoch Barker, Barker was educated at the Sunbury Grammar School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1856, a Master of Arts degree in 1858, and a Bachelor of Civil Law degree in 1866 from King's College Law School (now the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law). In 1861, he was called to the Bar and was created a Queen's Counsel in 1873.
