Eyre Developmental Road
The Eyre Developmental Road is a gazetted road in south-west Queensland that runs from Bedourie, Queensland, Bedourie to Birdsville and then to the border with South Australia, where it continues as the Birdsville Track. At the northern end it joins the Diamantina Developmental Road, and the mostly unsealed road crosses the Georgina River and Diamantina River. Maintenance of the road is the responsibility of the Queensland State Government. The road intersects with the Birdsville Developmental Road in Birdsville. Diamantina Developmental Road
The Diamantina Developmental Road is a gazetted road in Queensland, Australia, that runs from Charleville in the south-central part of the state to Mount Isa in the north-west. Route description The road passes through the towns of Quilpie, Eromanga, Windorah, Bedourie, Boulia, and Dajarra in its 1344 kilometer length, and most of it is sealed. Some sections between Windorah and Boulia are unsealed. The section from Boulia to Mount Isa is also known as the Boulia Mount Isa Highway and the section from Bedourie to Boulia is also known as the Boulia Bedourie Road. The section from the Eromanga boundary to the Windorah CBD is also known as the Quilpie Windorah Road. Birdsville Track
The Birdsville Track is a notable outback road in Australia. The track runs between Birdsville in south-western Queensland and Marree, a small town in the north-eastern part of South Australia. It traverses three deserts along the route, the Strzelecki Desert, Sturt Stony Desert and Tirari Desert. Originally the track was of poor quality and suitable for high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicles only, but it is now a graded dirt road and a popular tourist route. It is also used by cattle trucks carrying livestock. The track passes through one of the driest parts of Australia with an average rainfall of less than 100 mm annually. Georgina River
The Georgina River is the north-westernmost of the three major rivers of the Channel Country in Central West Queensland, that also flows through a portion of the Northern Territory, in central Australia. Part of the Lake Eyre basin, the Georgina flows in extremely wet years into Lake Eyre. The river is named in honour of Georgina Mildred Kennedy, the daughter of Queensland governor Arthur Kennedy. The river was originally called the Herbert River before being given its current name in 1890 to avoid confusion with the other river in Queensland that bears that name.
