Andrew Exum is an American scholar of the Middle East, a former U.S. Army officer. He was a part of General Stanley McChrystal's review of the American strategy in Afghanistan. Life After graduating from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee (1996) and the University of Pennsylvania (2000), where he was a columnist for the ''Daily Pennsylvanian'', a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, and a member of the Sphinx Senior Society. Exum, a U.S. Army officer, led a platoon of light infantry in Afghanistan following the September 11, 2001 attacks and subsequently led a platoon of Army Rangers as a part of special operations task forces in Kuwait and Afghanistan with the rank of captain. He was commissioned as an officer through the University of Pennsylvania's Army ROTC program, which he initially joined as a means of financing his education there. Antone Chavez Exum Jr. (born February 27, 1991), also known mononymously as Exum, is a musician and former American football safety. He played college football at Virginia Tech, and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. High school career Exum attended Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, Virginia, where he participated in football, basketball and track. In 2008, he was named first-team All-region and was a first-team selection for the Richmond Times-Dispatch All-Metro defensive team. Benjamin Exum
Benjamin Exum (1725–1789) was an officer in the North Carolina militia during the American Revolution and a Senator in the North Carolina General Assembly from Dobbs County, North Carolina, Dobbs County. Early life Benjamin Exum was the son of John and Elizabeth Kinchen Exum. He was born in either 1725 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia or 1745 in Southampton County, Virginia. Benjamin and his father moved to Edgecombe County, North Carolina in 1750 and later Dobbs County, North Carolina. The property that Benjamin owned was in Dobbs County until it became part of Wayne County, North Carolina in 1779. Career In 1776, he was on a committee to extract sulphur for ammunition in the war effort of the Patriots. He represented Dobbs County in the Provincial Congress at Halifax in November 1776. Cecil Exum (born August 7, 1962) is an American-Australian former professional basketball player. He played a number of years in the Australian National Basketball League. He is the father of National Basketball Association (NBA) player Dante Exum. College career Exum, a 6'6 forward from Dudley, North Carolina, played collegiate basketball for coach Dean Smith at the University of North Carolina from 1980 to 1984. At UNC, Exum was a member of the Tar Heels' 1982 NCAA championship team as a sophomore with future Hall of Fame players James Worthy and Michael Jordan. The office of mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, was established with the incorporation of the city in 1871. Robert Henley was appointed by Governor Robert B. Lindsay to a two-year term. Glenn Exum (June 24, 1911 – March 17, 2000) numbers among the premier mountaineers in American climbing history. Exum is best remembered for ascents in the Teton Range. In 1931, while only in his teens, Exum was the first to climb the exposed ridge to the summit of Grand Teton which now bears his name. The Exum Ridge remains one of the most popular routes to the summit of Grand Teton. Nathaniel Exum (February 28, 1940 – December 3, 2021) was an American politician from Maryland, a member of the Democratic Party and former member of the Maryland State Senate, representing Maryland's District 24 in Prince George's County. Exum died from a lengthy illness at his home in Peppermill Village, Maryland, on December 3, 2021. Background Exum grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to the Washington, DC area to attend Howard University. Exum Ridge
The Exum Ridge is the name of a prominent rock buttress on the Grand Teton, the high point of the Teton Range in Wyoming. Grand Teton towers 13,770 feet above Jackson Hole, with an ascent of 6,700 feet which by any route requires a combination of hiking, rock climbing and rappelling. The Ridge is named after Glenn Exum who pioneered a route, via a solo climb, on a day when his mentor Paul Petzoldt was guiding a couple up the original Owen-Spaulding Route. Today the route is split into the Upper and Lower Exum Ridge Routes. It is common for parties to bypass the more technically challenging lower section and climb exclusively the upper section.
