Extra Wax
''Extra Wax'' (Wax stylised in all caps) is a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl EP by Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall as a supplement to her sixth studio album, ''WAX''. It was released on 13 April 2019. The record contains two new non-album tracks, "John the Conqueror" and "Throw Down Boy", and a cover of Violent Femmes' "Blister in the Sun". Background On March 1, 2019, Tunstall announced on Instagram a special version of her latest album, ''WAX'', which was first released on 5 October 2018. This special release included new tracks, but it was limited to only 1,000 copies. The EP was released in conjunction with the independent record store event Record Store Day on 13 April 2019. Both "Throw Down Boy" and "John the Conqueror" had been bonus tracks that were originally only available for purchase in Scotland. Kate Victoria "KT" Tunstall (born 23 June 1975) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. She first gained attention with a 2004 live solo performance of her song " Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" on '' Later... with Jools Holland''. The name of her debut studio album, ''Eye to the Telescope,'' was inspired by her childhood experiences at her father's physics laboratory at University of St Andrews. It was released on 5 October 2018, following up the first album of the trilogy, ''Kin (KT Tunstall album), Kin''. The first single from the album is "The River", released on 23 August 2018. Violent Femmes are an American folk punk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band consists of founding members Gordon Gano (guitar, lead vocals) and Brian Ritchie (bass, backing vocals), joined by multi-instrumentalist Blaise Garza (joined 2004), and drummer John Sparrow (joined 2005). Record Store Day is an annual event inaugurated in 2007 and held on one Saturday (typically the third) every April and every Black Friday in November to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store". Gordon James Gano (born June 7, 1963) is an American musician widely known as the singer, guitarist and songwriter of American folk punk band Violent Femmes. Early life Gano was born in New York City to actor parents Norman and Faye Gano, and grew up in Connecticut. The Gano family moved to Wisconsin in 1973, when his father opened an American Baptist church in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. Rev. Gano, an accomplished actor, also formed a community theater group in Oak Creek, and Gordon appeared in many of its productions, notably "Sing Out, Sweet Land" in 1976. His father played guitar, and exposed his son to a wide array of musical genres, including country and western, show tunes, and gospel.
