Extra Mile Education Foundation
The Extra Mile Education Foundation is a privately funded, non-profit charity 501(3)(c) based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded in 1989. The money raised by the charity is used to subsidize the tuition of low income students who attend several K-8 Catholic schools in the Pittsburgh area. Most of the students are African American. As of January 2011, five Pittsburgh schools are currently enrolled in the program. David S. Shapira is an American businessman. He serves as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Giant Eagle, Inc. He joined the company in 1971 and has been President and CEO since 1980. David Allen Zubik ( ; born September 4, 1949) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has been bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania since 2007.
