Extol
Extol are a Christian metal band from Bekkestua, Norway that was formed in 1993. The band is known for playing a variety of different styles of metal which include progressive metal, death metal, black metal and thrash metal. Over the course of their career, the band has released five studio albums and two EPs. The band are noted for their precise, technical musicianship. The fourth album, '' The Blueprint Dives'', received a Spellemannsprisen nomination for Best Metal Album of 2005. Extol has toured the United States and Europe several times with such bands as Mastodon, God Forbid and Opeth. Collectively, Extol has sold over 500,000 albums worldwide. The last line-up before the hiatus included vocalist Peter Espevoll, guitarists Tor Magne Glidje and Ole Halvard Sveen, drummer David Husvik, and bass player John Robert Mjåland. Extol (album)
''Extol'' is the fifth full-length studio album by the Norwegian Christian metal, Christian progressive death metal band Extol, released in 2013. It was described by music critics as a mixture of Death metal, death and progressive metal, with some melodic elements. Reviews of the album were very positive, and the album managed to chart on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Top Christian Albums chart. Background and release In 2007, Extol went on hiatus after releasing its 2005 fourth album, ''The Blueprint Dives'', then reformed as a trio in 2012 and announced that it had begun work on a new studio album. Consisting of prior Extol members David Husvik, Peter Espevoll, and Ole Børud, the band released a teaser video for the album on 29 May 2013. David Husvik
David Husvik is a Norwegian drummer who has played in metal bands Extol, Absurd², Twisted Into Form and InSection and Aperture, a jazz and acoustic rock project. David Husvik helped to start Pirates N 'Thieves in 2007. He also performed in a side-project of Extol called Ganglion. Background Husvik began his musical career with Extol. The band has been highly influential to bands all around. The band has been Husvik's main musical career before the band disbanded in 2007, where Husvik took a musical break alongside his cousin Peter Espevoll, while the remaining three members, went on to form Mantric. Evidently, Husvik was a part of the first lineup of Mantric, but later left. During his time in Extol, Husvik also performed with Absurd² and The Crest. Ole Børud
Ole Børud (born December 6, 1976) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer, and engineer known both for his solo recordings and as a member of the groups Arnold B. Family, Schaliach, Extol, and Fleshkiller. Børud, son of the gospel singer Arnold Børud, began performing music at age five as part of Arnold B. Family, a group which would compete in the Melodi Grand Prix three times. At age twelve, he released a Christian children's music album. He later ventured into hard rock and heavy metal bands, first in the two-man project Schaliach and then in Extol and, briefly, the hardcore punk band Selfmindead. Peter Espevoll
Peter Espevoll is a Norwegian vocalist who, in 1993, started the band Extol, with whom he is most associated. Background Espevoll was the son of a missionary family, and spent a great deal of time in Kenya, Africa in his life. While in Kenya, he and his brother Christer Espevoll grew an affinity for heavier music, with Peter citing Jerusalem as his first interaction with the genre. Later, bands such as Barren Cross, Stryper, Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, Tourniquet, and Living Sacrifice would hold an influence in his life. Espevoll began his musical career after his brother Christer Espevoll and cousin David Husvik started Extol in 1993. The Blueprint Dives
''The Blueprint Dives'' is the fourth studio release by the Norwegian Christian metal band Extol. Recorded at the end of 2004 at Top Room Studios and produced by Børge Finstad and Extol, ''Blueprint'' was released on 21 February 2005 on Century Media. The album met with a widely positive reception and received a Spellemannprisen nomination. On this album, Ole Børud and Christer Espevoll left Extol, and the band was joined by the members of the rock band Ganglión, Tor Magne S. Glidje and Ole Halvard Sveen. Christer Espevoll
Christer Espevoll (born October 18, 1977) is a Norwegian guitarist who has been active since 1993. He has performed with notable acts such as Extol and Benea Reach. Christer's brother is Peter Espevoll. Background Espevoll started his musical career with his cousin David Husvik and brother Peter Espevoll. Espevoll formed the band with Husvik and then hired on his brother, in the fall of 1993. Espevoll was 16 and his brother was 14 at the formation of the band. Alongside his cousin and brother, the band hired on Ole Børud and Eyestein Holm as Guitarist and Bassist. The band had major success, first starting with labels Solid State Records, moving up to Century Media Records. In 2004, both Espevoll and Børud left the band. Tor Magne Glidje
Tor Magne Glidje (born September 27, 1977) is a Norwegian guitarist in Extol, Ganglion and Longing, a.k.a. Lengsel, where he is also the lead singer. He was also a part of Benea Reach. He is now playing in the band Mantric. Background Tor Magne Glidje grew up in the country side of Norway. Glidje would be exposed to music by way of Madonna, Bon Jovi and AC DC, and later Dio and Black Sabbath. Later, he grew to listen to black metal, death metal, and thrash metal, and began to learn guitars on his own to perform those styles. Glidje began his musical career in the black metal band, Lengsel, which means Longing. Before forming this band, Glidje started to play with his now longtime friend and bandmate, Ole Sveen in 1992. Fleshkiller
Fleshkiller is a death metal band from Norway and Indiana, United States. History Fleshkiller started in 2015 in Norway as a side project of Ole Børud of the progressive metal band, Extol and Peter Dalbakk of the band Vardøger. Børud and Dalbakk were former bandmates of the band Schaliach, a death-doom band they formed together. The two hired drummer Andreas Skorpe Sjøen from the band Umpfel. The band added Ole Vistnes as the band's bass player, of the bands Shining and Tristania. Dalbakk would later quit the band due to spending more time with his family. The band would replace Dalbakk with Elisha Mullins, vocalist of The Burial and former guitarist of A Hill to Die Upon. Schaliach
Schaliach was a Christian metal band formed by Peter Dalbakk and Ole Børud from Hamar, Norway. Dalbakk served as the band's vocalist, while Børud handled all the instrumentation. The band released one studio album, '' Sonrise'', in 1996 through Petroleum Records. Three songs from that recording were then featured on the Rowe Productions compilation album ''Northern Lights: Norwegian Metal Compilation'', which was also released in 1996. The band also contributed the song "Purple Filter" to the compilation album ''In the Shadow of Death: A Scandinavian Extreme Music Compilation'', released in 2000 through Endtime Productions.
