Expressens Heffaklump
Expressens Heffaklump (Heffaklumpen) is a Swedish annual award for children's and youth culture, especially children's and youth literature, that is awarded by the newspaper Expressen. The award was established in 1966 and the original award statuette was created by the artist Karl Göte Bejemark, but in the 2010s the artist Stina Opitz was given the assignment. The name "Heffaklump" is taken from the Swedish name of the Heffalump character in A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories. Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader. Children's literature can be traced to traditional stories like fairy tales, that have only been identified as children's literature in the eighteenth century, and songs, part of a wider oral tradition, that adults shared with children before publishing existed. The development of early children's literature, before printing was invented, is difficult to trace. Even after printing became widespread, many classic "children's" tales were originally created for adults and later adapted for a younger audience. Anna-Clara Beatrice Tidholm (born ''Tjerneld'' on 7 January 1946 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish children's writer and illustrator. She grew up on Djurgården in Stockholm. Ilon Wikland
Maire-Ilon Wikland (née Pääbo; born February 5, 1930) is an Estonian-born Swedish artist and illustrator. Wikland was born in Tartu, Estonia and raised in Haapsalu, Lääne County on Estonia's Baltic coast. In 1944 she escaped with the family of a classmate from the second Soviet occupation of Estonia, to Sweden, where she arrived as a refugee. In 1953 Wikland applied for a job as illustrator at Rabén & Sjögren. She was met by Astrid Lindgren, who had just finished writing the book ''Mio, my Son'' and who could see immediately that Wikland was able to "draw fairytales". Wikland did a test-drawing for the book and after that her collaboration with Lindgren continued. Wikland has said that Lindgren's writing continually makes her see inner pictures. Ulf Lennart Nilsson (18 September 1948 – 22 September 2021) was a Swedish writer who published more than 100 books and picture books, geared mainly to children and adolescents. He was also the longtime president of the Swedish Academy for Children's Books. A number of his works have been translated into English by Gecko Press. Bengt af Klintberg (Bengt Knut Erik af Klintberg) (b. 25 December 1938 in Stockholm) is a Sweden, Swedish folklorist, ethnologist, and artist who is known for his work on modern urban legends. His work reached a large audience with such books as ''Råttan i pizzan'' (''The Rat in the Pizza''), published in 1986, and ''Den stulna njuren'' (''The Stolen Kidney'') published in 1994. Klintberg is so widely known for his work on urban legends that the common Swedish word for urban legend for a while was the eponymous "klintbergare" ("klintbergers"). Bo Carpelan
Baron Bo Gustaf Bertelsson Carpelan (25 October 1926 – 11 February 2011) was a Finland-Swedish poet and author. He published his first book of poems in 1946, and received his PhD in 1960. Carpelan, who wrote in Swedish, composed numerous books of verse, as well as several novels and short stories. In 1997, he won the Swedish Academy Nordic Prize, known as the 'little Nobel'. He was the first person to have received the Finlandia Prize twice (in 1993 and 2005). He won the 2006 European Prize for Literature. His poem, ''Winter was Hard'', was set to music by composer Aulis Sallinen. He also wrote the libretto for Erik Bergman's only opera, '' Det sjungande trädet''. Paul Lennart Hellsing (5 June 1919 – 25 November 2015) was a Swedish writer and translator. For his lasting contribution as a children's writer, Hellsing was a finalist in 2010 for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award. Elsa Viktoria Olenius (September 30, 1896 – August 25, 1984) was a Swedish librarian and writer, best remembered for pioneering children's library activities and theatre with children. She was awarded a in 1981. In the 1940s, she founded ('the Children's Own Theatre), which later became '' Vår teater'' ('Our Theatre').
