CIF Southern Section
The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section (CIF-SS) is the governing body for high school athletics in most of Southern California and is the largest of the ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Its membership includes most public and private high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and central and southern Santa Barbara counties. At the start of the 2018/9 season, 13 schools from San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County left the Southern Section to join the much smaller CIF Central Section. Teams from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and surrounding areas have competed in the CIF Los Angeles City Section since 1935. CIFSS's offices are located in Los Alamitos. Lutheran High School La Verne (also known as Faith Lutheran), is a private, college preparatory Lutheran High School in La Verne, California. In the century-long tradition of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, Lutheran High School La Verne serves students from the San Gabriel, Pomona, and Inland Valleys. Built on a foundation of faith in Christ, the school provides rigorous, college preparatory curriculum to a co-educational student population in grades nine through twelve. Henry Samueli (born September 20, 1954) is an American businessman, engineer, and philanthropist. He is the co-founder of Broadcom Corporation, owner of the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks, and a prominent philanthropist in the Orange County, California community.
