Expo Channel
Expo Channel is an Australian home shopping channel. It is owned by parent company Direct Group Pty Ltd, a marketing and direct sales company based in the Sydney suburb of Frenches Forrest, which also owns sister channel TVSN. History In 2002, Optus TV launched Expo Channel on its cable television platform. Today, the channel is broadcast 24 hours a day on the major Australian subscription television platforms, as well as Freeview in some areas. Availability and Live Stream Most Australian pay television services carry Expo Channel as part of their basic subscription package. These services include Foxtel, Austar and Optus TV. The trial datacasting service Digital Forty Four in Sydney carried the channel free-to-air, on channel 49, from 2006 to it’s discontinuation on 30 April 2010, as well as via the Optus C1 satellite. Austar
Austar was an Australian telecommunications company. Its main business activity was subscription television but it has also been involved with internet access and mobile phones. It was founded in 1995 under the name Community Entertainment Television (CETV). Austar's television subscriber base grew to 747,148 (at 30 June 2010), making it the largest subscription television operator in regional and rural Australia. Austar provided subscription television services to 2.4 million homes, one-third of Australia's total homes, primarily using digital satellite technology. Digital Forty Four was a Sydney-only trial datacasting service that was licensed by the Australian Broadcasting Authority (now the Australian Communications and Media Authority) beginning on 17 March 2004 for an initial three-year run until late 2007. The license was extended on several occasions past 2007, however on 29 January 2010 it was announced that Broadcast Australia's datacasting licence for Digital Forty Four would not be extended past 30 April 2010.
